Welcome to the New School Year
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Hector Guerrero and I am honored to serve as the new principal for Homestead School. Over the past 21 years, I have worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and director in the Ventura Unified School District. During the last three years, I served as principal of El Camino High School and Director of Educational Options. Beginning with this school year, I will focus my efforts on Homestead and continue to lead El Camino. My experience has taught me that my most important job is to be an advocate for all students and ensure that they are provided with a safe and academically rich environment where they can thrive as learners and members of our community.
I look forward to the work we will do together to strengthen our school's services and programs. I am committed to developing strong partnerships with parents, students and community members to ensure that the academic and social-emotional needs of all of our students are met.
It is an exciting time as we open the school year in our new home located at 150 Day Rd (across the parking lot from Foothill High School). Our students will now enjoy their own campus that has been structured to support independent learning. I am confident that both you and your child will love the set-up and the incredible lawn and garden space that will be available.
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Warm Regards,
Hector Guerrero
Principal
Greetings!
Greetings Homestead community! I am thrilled to be settling into our new campus as we prepare to welcome your children to the 2022-23 school year. We look forward to seeing you soon for master agreement meetings and for you to get to know or reconnect with your child’s teacher. We are also pleased to reintroduced a great Homestead tradition of weekly in-person classes and learning opportunities. We will have a schedule of these classes out to you before the first day of school, which is Wednesday August 24th. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions at bret.klopfenstein@venturausd.org.

Master Agreement Meetings
Homestead teachers will soon be contacting families to schedule required parent/student Master Agreement meetings beginning August 16. At this meeting you will have the opportunity to meet your teacher, arrange your weekly meetings and learn about the educational program expectations. A parent or guardian must attend with the student.
Please contact Tera Shrum at 805-289-1893 if you do not hear from your teacher by August 16th.
Annual update and Re-Enrollment
We are very excited to announce VUSD is going green! Every family new or returning to Homestead needs to complete this process online https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WGMSr-0MmvQFMeqaU9pchYtcs3r6S-9FtOvviridAMA/edit?usp=sharing
The only paperwork you will receive from our office is the emergency card to be filled out at your master contract meeting. Yay! No more big packets to fill out.
If you do not have access to a computer the office will have a device for you to use. If you have any questions, please reach out to the office.
Multi-Site Process
The process for multi-site enrollment (MSE) has changed slightly. The application is a Google Form and the student needs to be approved and enrolled through the multi-site process prior to participating in the class. I’ve attached guidelines for the process which includes understanding of the rules and procedures, completing the application, and for athletes, parents must register their child as a student athlete. I will also include a paper copy of the rules and process in your ECHS mailbox but I won’t accept paper applications from families. It must be done using the Google Form.
Once the student has completed their MSE application, I will be let them know within a week if they’ve been approved and when they can start attending their desired MSE class. If families have any questions, please email jane.napora@venturausd.org
