A Message From Mrs. Venghaus
I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the dance. Every student I spoke to said they were having a blast and asked when the next dance will be. The second dance of the school year is for 8th grade only. It is tentatively on the calendar for Friday, May 20th. We will get more details out later this semester.
Proud to be your student's principal,
Julia
Lady Bear Basketball
Lady Bears 7B played against a tough Tomball team last night. With offensive shots made by Maddie Smith and defensive plays made by Audriana Pitman, the bears were able to come home with a win. The ladies played hard the whole game and proved they were the better team. We continue next week for our last home game against Waller.
The 8B Lady Bears lost a close game to Tomball. Leading the charge offensively was Linda Talavera with 6 points, with Faith Funnell, Liaba Shahzad, and Peyton Phizacklea also contributing! Alannah Salazar led the team defensively.
The 8A Lady Bears lost to a tough Tomball squad. Leading the charge offensively was Stevie South with 8 points, Neha Sasser with 5 points, and Emily Hubbard with 4 points.
The Lady Bears will take on Waller Junior High at home January 27, 2022.
Bear Basketball
The 7th grade A and B teams boys fell short against Tomball last Thursday in two hard-fought games. 7A was lead in scoring by Jhett Bubke and Aiden McFarland, and on the defensive side by Cash Ferrell and Jeramiah Guidie.
The 7th B team was led by Kalum Jackson on offense with 8 points, and by Chase Lowery on defense.
The 8th-grade boys B team defeated a very talented Tomball team 29-24, led by Brian Thomas, who scored 10 points.
The 8th-grade A team led for the first 20 minutes of the game, but the offense could not get going in the last 4 minutes and Tomball took the lead. The 8A Bears were led by Joseph Solomon on defense, who scored multiple times in transition after stealing the ball from Tomball. Hudson Enyart led the team in scoring with 11 points and Jess Folsom had 8 points.
The Bears will take on Waller, at Waller Junior high this Thursday.
Scoliosis Screening
On February 2, 2022 we will begin screening 7th grade girls for scoliosis. State law requires that schools screen students for abnormal spinal curvature. The screening will take place during PE/Athletics period in the nurse's office.
Important Recommendations:
*Girls should wear a sports bra or a two-piece swimsuit top underneath their shirt on exam day
*Girls will be screened separately from the boys
If you do not wish to have your child screened for religious reasons, you must submit an exemption to the school no later than February 1, 2022. You may also submit scoliosis screening documentation from your child's doctor if it was completed at age 12.
If you have any questions please contact the BBJH clinic or email our nurse, Kari Haynes, at khaynes@magnoliaisd.org.
