Cedar Grove Friday Flash

January 27, 2023

Dear Cedar Grove Families,

Pajama Read Aloud Night was a great success! We hope the children, as well as the adults, enjoyed the many wonderful stories that were shared by our readers. Many thanks to our families for attending, to our PTA for a wonderful staff dinner, and to our amazing staff and parent readers. Special thanks to Mrs. Hirschhorn for planning and organizing this special event.

As we now settle into the middle of the winter weather season, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is improving its process for informing the community when weather requires an operational status change and when a closure might justify a shift to virtual instruction. When it is determined that conditions are unsafe for students and staff, we have six operational status options, which will now be reported by easy-to-understand, color-coded messages. Please click on the link below for more information.

In the event, MCPS decides on a virtual learning day, we will send out the necessary information the day before in a master document for students’ to access their zoom classroom including your child’s classroom schedule as well as post on our website. In alignment with MCPS expectations, our school day during virtual instruction will occur from 11:25 AM-3:45 PM with lunch occurring from 1:30-2:00 PM for our entire school. Additionally, we will review this information at our next PTA meeting on February 7, 2023.

Over the last few years, students have been encouraged to write and share acts of kindness that they see during their school day. While at first students were sharing their own acts of kindness, it has evolved to the students sharing the kindnesses they see in others. We are so proud of your children for taking time to recognize and share the many positive and caring acts of kindness they are seeing at school. Kindness truly is contagious, and we are happy to see it spread around!

Have a wonderful weekend!
