CSU is a public research university whose largest number of out of state students hail from California (requiring just a 2 hour flight from Los Angeles). Home to 23, 590 students, yet maintaining a 16:1 student-faculty ratio, CSU boasts 346 student organizations, 35 honor societies, dynamic athletic programs, and Greek life, among so many other things. The large metropolitan city of Denver and and access to world famous skiing and snowboarding are both about an hour away. CSU students are proud RAMS, and they compete in NCAA Division 1 athletics in the Mountain West conference. Colorado State’s most popular majors are Health & Exercise Science, Psychology, Biological Science, Construction Management, Human Development and Family Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, and Communication Studies. There are PhD students working alongside undergraduate students to explore fields such as atmospheric science, infectious diseases, clean energy technologies, and environmental science; the emphasis on teaching, research and service is embedded into the school’s culture. Innovators, tech professionals, foodies, animal lovers, and adventurists make up the town of Fort Collins, a midsize city of approximately 137,200, located in northern Colorado at the western edge of the Great Plains and the base of the Rocky Mountains. Some notable Colorado State alumni are Broadway and television actor John Amos (Good Times, Roots), Football coach Lane Kiffin, NFL player Shaquil Barrett, and astronauts James van Hoften and Kent Rominger, and Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken. Students can apply to Colorado State University via the Common App . Colorado State does not require SAT or ACT scores. All applicants have the same access to admission and scholarship review whether or not they submit scores. All Early Action (non-binding) applications completed by December 1 receive full admission consideration and automatic scholarship review by December 31. Regular Decision applications completed by February 1 receive full admission consideration and automatic scholarship review by February 28. After this date, applications for admission are considered on a rolling basis.
Colorado State belongs to a unique TUITION DISCOUNT PROGRAM known as the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE). Students who are not Colorado residents but who live in the western United States (or on specific Pacific islands) may be eligible for a significant reduction in tuition through the WUE award. Students could save about $10,000 per year - - $40,000 in savings over the course of four years.
