WORD OF THE WEEK
Principal's Corner
SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK - September 9 - 13 - In ages 10 – 14, we have seen an alarming increase in suicides. The number of suicides for this group has more than doubled since 2006, making it the second leading cause of death for that age group. We cannot ignore this. Our Counselors and District Interventionist will show a video and speak with our students in small groups of 30-35 students during PE class on Sept. 9th, 10th, and 11th. Link to video for you to preview http://bit.ly/MiddleSWVideo If you would like your child to visit the library during the Suicide Prevention video and discussion led by our guidance counselors and district interventionist, please enter their information below. http://bit.ly/VideoOptOut
DRESS CODE AND STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT GUIDELINES - Parents and students, please take a moment to take a second look at the Welcome from Dr. Murphy and the Student Code of Conduct review by HHS students. When we return from our 3 day weekend, students can expect to see the policies more strictly adhered to by Bumpus staff. http://bit.ly/CodeVideo19-20
BUS TRANSPORTATION - Riding with a friend. Transportation does not accept requests to ride to or from school on the bus with a friend. However, students may change to carpool to ride with a friend without notifying the school.
NEWS FROM THE NURSE
Students are not allowed to carry medication on their person unless the medication is presented to the nurse first. Each medication must have an authorization form signed by you and/or the physician turned in to the nurse's office. OUR NURSE DOES NOT HAVE STOCK MEDICATION TO GIVE STUDENTS. We love for students to have the medication that they need at school, so we encourage you to complete the form and bring medication to the health room. Many students need regular headache medication, monthly pain medication, or stomach medication. Please take the opportunity to allow our nurse to better care for your child. Attached is the medication policy for Hoover City Schools.
