Principal’s Message

This week, we participated in Hour of Code across the grade levels and will continue to explore coding over the next few weeks. the children truly enjoyed learning a new skill.

The second week of Advent begins this Sunday. Here is a prayer from Catholic Spirit to help us prepare and reflect.

Father in heaven, during this second week of Advent, help us see clearly the times when we have sinned. Accept our sorrow for having pulled away from you, and give us firm resolve to stay close to you.

God above, help us conduct ourselves in holiness. We long to be the people you expect us to be. Help us as we strive to make our souls spotless and our hearts and minds at peace.

Help us, Lord, to remember that we were baptized for a reason. Help us realize our baptismal call to live as children of God.

And dear God, don’t let us miss chances this week to be welcoming to other people and to work in harmony with everyone. Help us as we try to change our ways so that we are good examples of people who love and follow the Lord.

Just a reminder that we have a half day this Wednesday so that our teachers can attend science professional development.

Escondido Christmas Parade

St. Mary School’s submission for the Escondido Jaycee’s 68th Annual Christmas Parade was accepted. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 8th. The overall parade theme is “Wild about Christmas”. Our St. Mary School float will have the theme “Wild about the Word of God” and it will resemble a jungle complete with large blades of green grass and big palm trees. The center of the float will host a giant birthday cake decorated in different animal print designs indicating “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” – acknowledging the reason for this season. Families from the school and preschool are invited to participate by donating money for the float decorations, helping with the assembly of the float and of course walking in the parade. If your child plans to walk in the parade, he/she will need to be accompanied by a parent or gaurdian.

Please sign-up here to donate for any of these items and to let us know if you are planning to attend. Please wear a St. Mary shirt if possible. We will have some wild animal masks for those that want to wear them.

New this year: On Tuesday, December 18th, students may wear Christmas sweaters or other Christmas tops with uniform bottoms!

Students will also be allowed to come to school in Christmas attire free dress on Thursday, December 20th since they will be celebrating their Christmas parties. Kindergarten students will come in their pajamas on this day instead.
