Holiday Breakfast/Tackiest Outfit Share
This Thursday we will hold a holiday breakfast. Part of the food, fun, and fellowship will be the opportunity for staff to wear and share their tackiest seasonal outfits. Staff can come to the breakfast dressed to compete individually and/or as a tacky team such as Kindergarten did last year. Over the years certain rivalries have developed so we're anxious to see if those rivalries get amped up and what additional tacky creativity shows itself on Thursday. Check out some of the classic pictures of past tacky creations our staff has presented in the past.

Announcements for December 17-21, 2018
Belated Happy 40th Birthday to Ben Stern. Oh to be young again! :)
Parents Night Out: Thanks to the After School Staff for hosting a Parents Night Out this past Friday from 6:30-9:30. Such a great community outreach event. A special thank you for the staff that made it a big success for the 70 plus students and their parents.
Goodbye to Linsay and Denise:
We bid goodbye to Linsay Narvaez, TA in Whitney Owens kindergarten and Denise Renfrow, TA in Karen Rabon's kindergarten class. Linsay accepted a position as Art Teacher with the Montessori School in Raleigh. Linsay says goodbye to all as she was offered the position after she tracked out. Denise is going to be a full time mother after her last day on Friday, January 4. Both will be missed and we thank them for all of their contributions to our school.
PTA Meeting:
The December PTA Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 18 at 8:15 in the Media Center has been cancelled.
Holiday Performances: Kindergarten and First Grade have Holiday performances on Wednesday, December 19th during specials. Due to this change, please be aware any specials changes and of parents being in the building from 9:30-10:30 and from 1:15-2:15. There is also a choral performance at Crabtree Valley Mall this Thursday night beginning at 7:00 pm on the food court. We'd love to see you there!!
Make Up Days: We will make up for Tuesday, December 11th will now be on the former Early Release on January 18th-making that a full school day. This is a change from the previous March date sent out earlier by the County. Although Track 4 (not track 1) should be making up the day, the County has chosen a day that track 1 is in session--it aligns better with the Traditional Calendar. This means track 1 folks come and if they do not are considered absent, and track 4 folks do not come. Mr. Biles has already reached out to "downtown" to see if in the future that tracks and makeup days can more closely align. Much of this comes down to coordinating bus schedules with traditional schools.
Friday, December 21st: Please meet in the media center at 1:45 for a BRIEF PD meeting prior to the Global Committee Meeting to go over goals for Global requirements and other PD. Please bring your laptop with you.
PUE Attendance Data Update: Thank you to teachers for recently digging into our attendance data. Our school attendance rate has not been optimal so staff looked at and created recommendations that will be shared with School Improvement Team in January. We will also be sending home attendance information to parents encouraging students to be in school. Feel free to reiterate in your parent newsletters or copy and paste any information that we place in the Sunday Message.
Lost and found: The lost and found items will be donated to those in need on Friday, December 21st. Please encourage students to get items before that time.
Testing Windows: Please be aware of the testing windows Kayla puts on the Master Calendar and plan ahead to make sure you give students the best opportunity to do his/her best and you have your testing completed.
Technology Thursday Jan. 10: Sarah and Ben have arranged for the Wake County technology staff that covers our school to visit us for a staff development opportunity on Thursday, Jan. 10. A variety of technology will be presented to expand your current tool kit. Great chance to earn some technology credit, too.
Track 4 Convergence Remix: The WCPSS is offering, as they have for other tracks during their track out professional learning during the January track out. Here is a link to the Flyer for the upcoming REMIX Professional Learning Conference for your Track 4 Staff on January 22 & 23.
Holiday Closing: The school building will be closed December 24th-January 1, 2019. Please... you guessed it- plan to defrost/empty refrigerators, take all foods home, close and lock all windows and doors, take fish home, water plants, and TAKE HOME PERSONAL ITEMS.
