Here Comes Spring . . . . . . .

As we leave for Spring break, we have so many exciting things happening when we return. Some students are returning for a 4-day week. Some students will continue to be remote until the end of the school year. Attendance is returning to the more traditional procedures so in-person students will not do any remote learning from home. They will only use their chromebooks to access assignments. Only remote students will access the google meets. If your child is absent from school please make sure you call the attendance line whether they are in-person or remotely learning at (630)827-4041. To recap: In person, students will continue to wear their masks on school grounds and in school except when taking a mask break. Masked students will socially distance within the 3-6 foot zone depending on the number of students in their classroom. When unmasking to eat, students will socially distance 6 feet from one another. The playground is closed before and after school, but students will have the opportunity to take turns using the equipment safely and in smaller groups during the school day - and they will be masked on the equipment.

But before all that happens, I want to wish our Park View families a very relaxing Spring break. Enjoy the warming temperatures and the spring foliage that begins to put on a colorful show. Take time to listen to the songs of our Midwestern Spring and smell those lovely floral scents that creep through the air. In a newsletter last fall I wrote about silver linings. Well this is a silver lining. We have made it through the winter and the future looks bright. Stay safe and remember classes resume on Tuesday, April 6th.

New Wednesday's Schedule

As we return from Spring break, we will have an evolving Wednesday Schedule giving students the opportunity to come into school to take the State assessments, or to participate in activities in small groups. This schedule is NOT complete, but I am sending it out so you can see what has been scheduled up to this point. Each week, I will send this schedule out in my Friday newsletter and as the weeks progress, you will see activities and events added with more detail. So remember this schedule is not complete and will evolve each week. You can email me anytime with questions.

Additionally, for 3rd - 5th Graders who are scheduled to come in for the State testing on Wednesdays, those families will receive an email with a form they will need to fill out to rsvp that their child(ren) is/are participating in the assessment. There will be an rsvp form sent to families each Wednesday. The first assessment rsvp form will be sent to families of 3rd - 5th graders on Friday, April 2nd. Please be sure to fill out the rsvp form if your child(ren) will be coming to school each Wednesday.

Park View Heritage Week - April 12th - 16th

One very special tradition at Park View is Heritage Night. We have always emphasized the importance of sharing and celebrating our family heritage with our school community. Although we cannot have our traditional Heritage Night, the PTA has worked hard to continue this tradition by creating a Heritage Week of celebration starting April 12th and running through April 16th. It is amazing how the Heritage Committee found new activities to honor that spirit of celebration. The two flyers below explain opportunities students will have to celebrate their heritage with their classmates, and opportunities families will have to engage in celebrating their own family heritage. It is so important for students to learn about their personal histories and the histories of others. I hope you will all join in on these activities during our Heritage Week. Here is a preview:
