Unit 5 Overview
What is Academic Writing and How do I do It?
Looking Back...
Thanks for your continued hard work in CM107. I hope you enjoyed learning about writing for personal reasons and hope you continue to use your skills to continue to communicate your ideas using informal language when it is appropriate for the topic, audience, and situation.
I will have your Unit 4 Assignments graded no later than Sunday and will post an announcement letting you know when the grades and comments are ready for review.
Looking Forward...What is Unit 5 About?
Unit 5 helps you to define what a formal academic essay is and helps you to begin the process for writing your own essay on a specific and relevant change in your field of study. You will apply the writing process to select a topic, create a main point about that topic, and organize your thoughts into an informal outline. These steps will help prepare you for success on your Unit 6 Assignment, which is a draft of your academic essay.
What is Due in Unit 5?
Here's this Unit's To-Do list. The following items should be completed by 11:59 PM ET on Tuesday, the last day of our unit:

- Complete Seminar by either participating in live Seminar or completing Seminar Option 2. You do not need to complete both.

Managing Your Time
Remember that while everything is due no later than Tuesday, you will reduce your stress levels, be more successful, and learn more in Unit 5 if you complete work throughout the unit.
