Cape's Mission & Vision

Mission: To provide a safe and supportive learning community where every student experiences success.

Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.

Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Dear Cape Families,

Welcome to the month of April! We are super excited about the progress that our Cape kids have made this school year. While there have been struggles, we feel confident that we are on a path toward a greater sense of normalcy. We would like to thank our students, parents, and community members for all of their support during these challenging times. As we continue to move forward, we encourage parents to be diligent in communicating with your child’s teacher and monitoring your child’s grades and attendance through FOCUS. Third quarter report cards were published in FOCUS on Friday, March 31.

Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are ready to show what they know on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST). They will have the opportunity to take the FAST in May. Please check our website for specific dates. Limited homework will be given during FAST testing days.

Please make sure your children are:

  • at school each day by 7:45.

  • well rested.

  • fed a nutritious breakfast.

  • sent off with love, smiles and hugs.

We would like to thank the Cape PTO officers, Mrs. Amy Gabel, Mrs. Corinne MacDonald, Mrs. Noelle Vilim and Mrs. Aileen Ernest, for their work this year. Our PTO board and PTO continue to support our students and staff and are always willing to do whatever it takes to keep things going. Thanks to all of the parents who supported PTO fundraising and activities. We look forward to seeing all of our Cape families at the PTO Spring Fling on Friday, April 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on the PE field.

The first week of May is staff appreciation week. We are planning to have a week full of goodies and fun for our hard working 100 Cape staff members. We want to have a scavenger hunt for our staff and need many gift cards from Starbucks, Urban Buzz, Dunkin Donuts, Publix or anywhere local for $5 or $10. If you have any ideas, connections or know a company willing to donate, please reach out to Nicole Osterholm at NicoleO@leeschools.net.

At the end of each year we have awards ceremonies for kindergarten to fourth grade called Celebrations of Learning and for fifth grade, a Promotion Ceremony. The dates and times are included in this newsletter as well as in the school calendar in your child’s planner. We will communicate on social media and through School Messenger as the dates are approaching.

Cape Elementary is a special place to work. We are honored to be the leaders of this great school! Please continue to contact us via email or phone call when you have a concern, question or comment.

Sincerely,

Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
