Note From the Principal
We hope you and your kids have enjoyed the snow. Thank you for your flexibility during this wild weather week!
Thank You Families. We are proud of our staff and school community for rallying together to create an amazing school experience both in-person and online. We have missed the buzz of volunteers and after-school events yet know that with continued safety practices we will celebrate together in the future. Until that time please enjoy a Day at the River video!
Fun Fridays. Mark your calendars for the following Fun Fridays. Teachers will be sharing details in class newsletters.
2/26 Fit Friday. Let’s get moving!! Dress in workout gear and get ready to move through Friday.
3/12 Pajama Day. Wear your coziest comfiest pajamas to school.
3/26 Make Up Your Own Holiday. This fun national holiday is a day to think up a thing, person, animal, phrase, or food and create a holiday to celebrate it.
Open Cafe Position. 5th graders, Owen and Elijah think that WRE is a great place to spend their days! They took initiative to submit a resume and complete the interview process for the open cafe position. Both Owen and Elijah will be excellent Noblesville employees someday but for now they are SOARING through 5th grade. If you would like to talk more about the open cafe position, please contact calie_vandermark@nobl.k12.in.us.
Staff Celebrations. White River educators, Kendall Hiatt, Laura Goodmiller, and Julie Williams were recognized as Hare Chevrolet teachers in February. A big cheer for these amazing educators. Media Center Specialist, Erin Freestone, earned recognition from the Indiana Library Federation as a Young Hoosier Book Award committee member. Congratulations, Mrs Freestone!
We hope all of you are staying safe, healthy, and warm this February. As always, we welcome your questions, suggestions, and contributions.
Soaring with you,
Calie VanDermark

Hope that everyone had a chance to have fun in the snow this week. It was cold yet the snow was beautiful. It made me think back to when I was younger and how much I loved looking out the window at the snow but rarely played outside. We lived in an apartment without much lawn so there wasn’t a way for us to get outside and play. We walked a lot in the snow but that was it. My first experience with what I’d call true fun in the snow was in college when going sledding at the Butler Hill (which sadly is no longer there). I was scared and excited all in one and I was an adult having fun. When I think about this I recognize that I didn’t miss out - I still had memories - those memories were just different. So this week, take time with your child to share your snow memories and what you loved about them or if you didn’t find joy around snow that is okay too. Share those memories. We are all writing our own story and when you share those with your child they can share their memories too. You could talk about them or you could create your own snow memory book together. If you do, feel free to share with me. I’d love to hear about your memories!
Thank you for your patience this week with the 2 hour delay messages and also the eLearning day messages. As a reminder, we operate as normal on these days unless your child’s teacher emails you a different schedule for the day. Appreciate the flexibility - something we’ve all learned a lot about this year.

Report International Travel to COVID Level 4 Areas- Quarantine Required
We are encouraging staff and families to stay home during spring break to minimize the spread of COVID.
If you are planning to travel internationally, please be aware that you are required to notify your school nurse of any international travel to a COVID “Level 4” area and will need to quarantine upon your return.
Please note that there is a possibility that domestic travel could be impacted if Governor Holcomb were to mandate that at some point.
Check carefully as the COVID travel level changes frequently.
You can check the COVID level of your destination here.
School nurse contacts can be found here.
