🎉 Glee Club are in the Grand Final! 🎉
On Sunday Mrs Howse and Mrs Willcox took a group of students to perform at the Chelmsford Theatre in the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge Regional Final. The students were incredible! They were professional on and off the stage and performed brilliantly. Out of 8 schools in the region Chelmer Valley received top scores achieving first place!
Therefore, they have made it through to the Grand Final! On April 28th, they will be performing at the Indigo at the O2!!

Christmas Jumper Day
CVHS raised a fantastic total of £743.97 on Xmas jumper day, for the charity Sanctus. Thank you to everyone that donated.
🎠KS3 Drama Club ðŸŽ
The Drama club students are doing a double bill performance on Wednesday 31st January from 4.30pm - 6.30pm in the main hall. Parents/Carers and families are invited to attend. This is an opportunity to watch what the students have been working on in Drama club.
Students, please note, rehearsals are taking place at the following times:
Year 7 - Wind in the Willows
Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime in ED1
Wednesday after school until 4.45pm in the hall
Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtime - no rehearsals with Mr Gold but students are allowed to use ED1, ED2 or EDS to rehearse their lines.
Year 8 & 9 - A Midsummer Night's Dream
Any lunchtime - the department is available for the cast and tech team to prepare
Monday after school until 5pm in the hall - dress/tech run
Wednesday after school - Drama club as usual (4.15pm finish)

Year 10 Work Experience
Thank you to all those students and parents/carers that have already completed their forms on Unifrog for Work Experience. Just a reminder that the deadline for this is on 8th February.
The PowerPoint and information on how to enter the information is on our Website under Careers.
If you are finding it difficult to secure a work placement please ask your child to come and visit the Careers Suite and we will try to help with this. Please understand that we have very limited resources, however we will do our best to advise and guide every student.

This week in tutor time our students in Years 8 – 10 have been continuing to look at the 5 Ways to Wellbeing related to the element of Give.

The Year 7 students have continued with their Transition support programme which will run until February half term, this is to support them with all the changes they are currently facing. Year 11 have been busy with their mock exams, so have either been in an exam or preparing for one.

Board Games Plea
The Student Council have identified that students would love a wider choice of board games to be able to play at break and lunch time in the Library.
If you have any appropriate board games that you no longer want, we would love to give them a new home.
Please can you drop them into reception for Mrs Dineen.
Tip for Neater Handwriting
We have seen that using these triangular grip pens have helped to improve student’s handwriting so if you are thinking of buying new stationery you might want to consider buying these pens or similar styles.
🎨 Art Department Work of the Week 🎨
Congratulations to Ethan Okoro 7V for winning Art Work of the Week with his fabulous pattern repeat - we loved the excellent colour matching and attention to detail.
Year 9 Harry Potter Trip
Students attending the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio tour must attend a SHORT meeting on Monday 22nd January in O3 PROMPTLY at the beginning of lunch - this is to go over arrangements and set the groups for the day.
Anyone not attending will be placed in a group not of their choosing.
English GCSE Clinic
The English department are running an English Clinic for Year 11 students every Thursday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm in N3.
If you have an English problem or you are finding an aspect of the course challenging there will be a member of the team on hand to help you with your needs.
Maths Clinic
Some of our Sixth Form students have kindly volunteered to run a Maths Clinic every break time in N33.
If you are in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 and are stuck on your homework or a question, please come and see them, they will be glad to help. A member of staff will be present to supervise.
Maths GCSE and A-Level Revision Sessions
Year 11 Revision Sessions run on Wednesdays after school in N3. They enable access and help with online resources. All Year 11 students are welcome, from 3pm to 4pm. Any person causing disruption or those not working will be sent away.
Year 12 and Year 13 students continue to meet in N33 every Wednesday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm.
Revision Guides & Workbooks
All Revision Guides and Workbooks as mentioned in previous Bulletins are still available to buy via Wisepay.
PE Notice
As you are aware, the PE clubs/fixtures are published in the bulletin each week. Any student wishing to take part in clubs/fixtures MUST log into the ipad terminals that are positioned around the school so we have a record that they have stayed behind after school hours. We are aware that the ipad terminals situated in the PE department are currently not working and this is being addressed. Students are advised to use other terminals around the school until these are fixed.
PE Extra Curricular Clubs
**Trampolining club is currently cancelled due to the GCSE mock exams being held in the gym, both sessions will recommence w/c 22nd January 2024**

Unfortunately we are no longer able to have parents come into school to watch their children in sporting fixtures. We appreciate this is very disappointing for both students and parents, however, we must adhere to the stringent safeguarding guidance given to us. We apologise for any inconvenience.
