Black Bob Family Newsletter

January 2016

A note from the Principal

I loved getting to see all the students this week as they came back from break. If it was anything like at my house, we got used to sleeping in a little and just relaxing, so the first day back was filled with mixed emotions.

These next few months are filled with a lot of events going on. I wanted to provide your family with an additional piece of information to help with communication from us. Each month this Family Newsletter is sent out via a city watch email and posted on our school website. Each student will now receive a paper copy of the calendar in addition to the link to our Family Newsletter for you to view on your digital device. This will come home at the beginning of each month. I hope this helps with knowing what is happening at school.

I appreciate each of you and all that you do for your child and their teacher. We could not do this without you!

Drop Off and Pick Up

This is just a friendly reminder that students need to be dropped off only in the drop off zone. Please do not pull up to the bus zone to drop off.

It is also very important that children are only crossing the street on the crosswalk. We have two of them. Cars are used to looking for students at those crosswalks. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe.

Tips for Parents

Each day, children need at least one meaningful eye-to-eye conversation with a parent. Children of all ages need us to slow down and look them in the eyes.

There are 9 minutes during the day that have a great impact on a child.

  • The first 3 minutes right after they wake up
  • The 3 minutes after they come home from school
  • The last 3 minutes of the day before they go to bed.

These little tips can make a big difference.
