Smart Start Survey
Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for participating in Smart Start. We hope your student and you feel welcome and prepared to start the school year.
Thank you to all who participated in Smart Start 2022. It was a wonderful opportunity specifically for our students with 504s and IEPs, and their parents/guardians, to make introductions with their teachers.
Smart Start is hosted every year, and feedback about your experience is very helpful for planning the event. Please share your input in the follow-up survey -- your responses are appreciated by Tuesday, Sept. 6. Smart Start 2022 Survey

Food Service This School Year
Universal free meals for all has ended. This school year we are going back to free, reduced and paid categories. This year we will be using the Oregon Expanded Income Guidelines (EIG), which will help us provide free meals to more families. A family of four making $83,250 annually can now qualify fo free meals compare to the USDA standard of $36,075. For more info on how to apply for free meals families can visit this page.

Meal ID badges. In order to have the lunch lines flow with ease we are going to use pinned/scanners at the POS. Students can scan their ID barcode at the POS making it easy and fast to go through the lunch line. They can also use the pin-pad incase they forget or lose their ID badge.
Secondary - Students can have the option of using their barcode on their Student ID card. They can also take a picture of it with their phone and use that picture at the POS. This is up to each school if they want to allow students to use their phones for this.
Creating a Meal Account. Online meal accounts are not necessary but are strongly encouraged to have. This will make it much easier for families that want to add funds to students accounts. Meal accounts can be made with SchoolCafe. There is a small fee for depositing money into each account, but if parents deposit $100 or more they get their fee back as a credit to their account. We will accept cash or checks at the POS. Checks can be made to “LOSD - Nutrition Services”. Below is more information on how to create an account.
