Chippewa Falls Middle School
December 2018
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KUNSMAN
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What an exciting and wonderful year together it has been so far at the Chippewa Falls Middle School! It brings me joy to see your children working hard in their classes, enjoying the company of their friends, and partaking in the many opportunities and activities that have been offered this school year. We have a lot to be thankful for and proud of during this holiday season.
Our school district's mega result is: Students will graduate prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and careers, having the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to achieve their personal goals and contribute to the common good. Our staff at CFMS are dedicated to ensure that this is happening for all of our students, and seeing this happen is what inspires me to come to work each day and work hard for all of our students, staff, and families.
In Partnership With You,
Derrick Kunsman
Principal
SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
The Chippewa Falls Middle School primarily communicates with parents and/or guardians electronically. All parents and guardians who receive school information electronically must have their parent portal in Infinite Campus set up in order to access report cards, schedules, homework assignments, grades, attendance, fee statements, etc. We are pleased to offer parents this opportunity to be more active in their child’s education.
If you do not have your parent portal account setup, please follow the guidelines below to setup your account. We discourage the use of your child’s account as you won’t have access to the necessary information you may need or want.
Please make sure that your e-mail address is kept current at all times on the parent portal. You may update your email address at any time by selecting Contact Preferences on the parent portal menu. If at any time during the school year you lose the ability to access the internet, please notify the appropriate grade level office immediately so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our database.
You can also make lunch account, registration and athletic fee payments in the Infinite Campus Portal. There will be no convenience fees added. If you need help, call our help desk at 715-726-2413 for assistance.

No Latex Balloons Please
Reminder to our families when sending birthday gift arrangements to their children that latex balloons are prohibited due to the risk of severe allergic reaction to our student body, staff, and visitors in the building.
What is the “powerhouse” of a cell? Since September, our 8th grade science students have been busy learning about plant and animal cells, the parts of a cell, and how the cell functions to keep the living thing alive. Recently, life science students focused in on one need of living things-ENERGY! They explored how plants change sunlight to a sugar molecule called glucose and how the mitochondria then breaks up glucose to release the energy to run the cell. Coming up in December, students will explore how the human body is able to get glucose and other nutrients it needs from the food we eat. Your student will find out if there are any organs of the digestive system a human can live without and how that would be possible. In addition, our life science students are continuing to work on analyzing and interpreting data through the use of graphs and current science events.
Breaking the Silence - Support Group
We will be facilitating an in-house support group called Breaking the Silence starting Tuesday, January 8th from 3-4:30 pm. This group will run for 6 weeks through Tuesday, February 12th. Any person who has experienced domestic violence can attend this group; there is no registration required. People can attend one session or all six! If a person has kiddos, those kids can participate in a separate support group.
