PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Pleasant Run Families:
As we near the end of the semester, I want to remind you about a few upcoming assessments your students will participate in.
The NSGRA (Next Steps in Guided Reading Assessment) will take place in your child’s reading block, 1:1 with the teacher. Your student will read a passage and answer a few comprehension questions; their level of accuracy will help determine their current reading level (from A--Z). The testing window opened on December 3rd. Students also took this assessment at the start of the school year in August.
The NWEA assessment tests your student's growth in the areas of reading and math. This assessment is one your student takes 3 times per year, each year they attend school in Warren Township. You probably remember seeing this data at Fall Conference Day in October; we will send your student’s updated scores home once we have access to them. The testing window opens on January 8th - your child’ teacher can let you know what specific testing dates your child can prepare for. All students who meet or exceed their projected growth goals will earn Out of Dress Code Days! A student meeting/exceeding their goal in both Reading AND Math will earn TWO Out of Dress Code Days!
Please remember that Wednesday, December 12th will be a delayed start for all Warren Township Schools. Students will arrive 1 hour later than their normal start time and all buses will run 1 hour later than normal in the morning. This does not impact dismissal time.
As always, I appreciate your support. Please contact me at 532-3803 if you have any further questions.
