THE COMPASS ACADEMY END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATION - PLAN TO ATTEND!

On Friday, May 13th, we will be hosting a celebratory picnic for Compass students and families to recognize our graduating seniors and their accomplishments, commemorate the close of our inaugural year, and to engage in fellowship with our Compass community. There will be food, fun, and prizes, so all students and families should plan to attend! More information will be shared soon. If you would like to help plan this event, please contact Karen Eutsler by emailing karen.eutsler@d303.org.

JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES IN ST. CHARLES - CONTINUING THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER!

Many Compass Academy students are actively engaged in shadowing in this program, and others have already completed their experience. If your student hasn't taken advantage of this opportunity yet, encourage them to do so. In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, law enforcement, construction, and vehicle maintenance. THE CITY HAS EXTENDED THIS PROGRAM SO THAT STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE DURING THE SUMMER, an opportunity to be exposed to various careers of interest while also earning credit at Compass!

Interested students should complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy.

SPEAKER SERIES

Encourage your student to take advantage of one of the last opportunities of the school year to engage with people from various careers during our speaker series. If your student is interested in aviation or learning what it's like to have a career as a pilot, have them register for the morning session in this week's Speaker Series.

  • Wednesday (4/27), 10:30-11:15 am: J.T. Tomka, Airline Pilot (REGISTER HERE)

COMPASS CARES EVENT FOR APRIL - BLANKETS FOR PROJECT LINUS

The blanket-making continues at Compass! Student volunteers have been knitting, crocheting, and hand-tying blankets for our Compass Cares event, which will happen during the first week of May. In case you aren't aware, Project Linus is a nonprofit organization with these two goals: 1) provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers," and 2) provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
