NATIONAL HISTORY DAY
Lake Country School’s National History Day is an academic enrichment project that requires students to conduct extensive primary and secondary research via books, online resources, documentaries, and historical archives. After analyzing and interpreting their research and drawing conclusions about the topic’s significance in history, students will be presenting an interdisciplinary project.
Eighth grade students will be presenting their historical research-based projects to parents, Lake Country School students, and community members on Wednesday, May 17th and Thursday, May 18th (dates are subject to change depending on the weather) between 11:45-12:25, and then again from 1:10-2:45. A list of presentation topics can be found below. All presentations will take place outside, on the grounds of the school. Therefore, you do not need to sign-in at the office to attend the outdoor presentations. We look forward to seeing you at our National History Day!
FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that missing school negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade. By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances of graduating.
We ask for your help in increasing student attendance. With less than a month to go in our school year, let's see if we can get all students here every day on time!

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD
MDA Muscle Walk
We are current students at Arrowhead looking to ask you all for your help in supporting our fight against muscular dystrophy. As you may know, a teacher at Arrowhead, Mr. Destache, is retiring after this year. As a result, we wanted to do something special to show the impact he had on his students and to carry on his golden rule: “There is always hope.” Throughout his teachings, Mr. Destache would implement “the Always Hope Rule” as a support system to keep students going if they happen to have a bad test or quiz.
That is why we are asking for your support with our cause to help Erica and everyone affected by muscular dystrophy, as “there is always hope”. Please consider making a donation to our fundraiser, Team Horsepower, as every dollar counts.
You can donate online:
Your donation will help hundreds of thousands of people by funding research, providing care and support to families and help spread awareness regarding muscular dystrophy. In addition, your donation will have an even greater impact because throughout the month of May, the Muscular Dystrophy Association will also support ALS.
From all of us (especially Erica) to you, thank you!
Sincerely,
Allison Lucyshyn, Emma Albrecht, Emery Cummins-Brown, Kate Lucyshyn, Audrey Worgull, Grace Kaczmarek, Ayla Brittnacher, Sammy Gleason, and Francie Corry.
