Main Conflict
The main conflict is that Bruno (who's dad is a Nazi Soldier) is friends with Shmuel (who is a Jew that is in Auschwitz).
Bruno and his family move (Chapter 1)
Bruno's dad is a Nazi Soldier and he got called to work at Auschwitz and that required the family to move with him. The family had to move from their family, friends, house, and school.
Bruno explores Auschwitz (Chapter 9)
Bruno discovered Auschwitz and he knows that his dad wouldn't "okay" it and didn't tell dad right away which upset dad. Bruno did this because he was curious and he said that he had yet to discover anything. After he told his dad, his dad was mad at him but he didn't give Bruno a chance to explain.
Bruno and Shmuel meet (Chapter 10)
The son of a Nazi (Bruno) meets a Jew from the other side of the fence and they shouldn't be together because Bruno and his family aren't Jews. This happened because Bruno was looking for friends and he didn't have any at his new house. Bruno finding Shmuel changed both of their lives and it created a great relationship
Grandmother died (Chapter 16)
This causes the family to go back to Berlin for the funeral. This makes Bruno think of sad memories and happy memories of Grandmother. However, when they returned home Bruno was happier.
Bruno and Shmuel died in a gas chamber (Chapter 19)
This resolves it because they both got killed however some people found out that they were friends. This happened because Bruno had gone under the fence to the concentration camp with Shmuel because they were looking for Shmuel's dad and they got taken into a gas chamber where they were killed. Even though this was at the end of the book it still changed the outcome because it leaves people devastated.
