From the Principal's Desk
Our students will be on Spring Break from March 27th–March 31st. Classes will resume April 3rd. I hope that you are able to spend this time with your family and get outside! I don’t know about you guys, but, this winter has felt especially long and the spring has felt especially damp!
If you are like me and do not have the chance to travel over break, here are some fun “Staycation” ideas to keep busy and try something new! I know that my daughters and I love to cook together–we will certainly be trying one of the virtual kids cooking classes.
Upon returning from Spring Break, our Gators will have a lot going on. Specifically, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking their IAR exams. Testing will start on Tuesday, April 4th. Be sure to have your student at school on time on these dates as all testing will need to be made up upon absence. Our goal with IAR testing is to see what your student knows and to make sure they are making progress in a variety of subject areas. If you are able to provide your student with a good breakfast before IAR testing, research shows that this has a strong impact on student stamina, performance, and overall anxiety.
Please enjoy the March version of the Gazette–It’s a great day to be a Gator!

NEW! Safety Button on Student Devices
We have placed a shortcut to the safety page on the D70 website on all student devices. On student Chromebooks this will likely be a small icon in the bottom 'dock/shelf' of the Chromebook. On Student iPads, this will likely be a button that looks like an app. We have created a student-friendly landing page that will give students easy access to See Something, Say Something and the internal D70 reporting form currently on the safety page. This idea came out of the D70 Safety Committee and is in line with surrounding districts and the access students have to report issues or find resources when needing support.
