Burlingame Intermediate School

Friday, September 2, 2022

Dear BIS Family and Friends,

WOW! We completed our first full week of school! Our students have impressed us with their good attitudes and spreading joy around school. It feels like life is getting closer and closer to the pre-Covid normal. We are continuing to address schedule changes the best we can. Our electives are very close to full capacity and changes are very difficult to do. Please have your child fill out a schedule change form in the office.

Back to School Night is next Thursday, September 8th. We will begin at 5:45pm on the blacktop between the library and Building 10. Please join me for a quick Welcome and meet our PTA and BCE partners. Burlingame School District is so lucky to have such great support from the community. See Back to School Full Schedule below.

Student Computer Use Agreement:

We will be checking out Chromebooks beginning on Tuesday, September 7th. Humanities teachers have given us lists of students that need a CHromebook for the school year. When your child comes home with the Computer Use Agreement, please go over this form with your child. Both of you should initial the form and sign. Please return to the office or Advisory teacher. Thank you.

Picture Days

Thank you to all the volunteers and our PE and Connection teachers for making the picture days calm and efficient. Missed picture Day? We will have a Make-up picture day on Thursday, September 29th. More information to come.

Identifications Cards (IDs)

We will be taking lunch counts in Advisory classes each morning. Please talk to your child so they know if they will be grabbing a school lunch. The lunches are free to all students. Once students get their ID cards they will be scanning them so we can keep a more accurate accounting for our state reporting. Please share with your student(s) that they will need their ID card daily at school for lunch and to check out library books.

Lunch Applications are available for the 2022-2023 school year. Please see below for more information. Families that qualify are eligible for many other community services.

6th Grade Outdoor Education

Please look for a separate email that went out today with all the information we have to get ready for our 6th graders to go to Outdoor Education.

Let's Be Good Neighbors

Please be sure to arrange a spot to drop off and/or pick up your child from school. Many parents have students walk off campur to meet them where it is less kaotic than in the drive through at BIS. We love our neighbors and they know that drop off and pick up times can be crazy, however please respect their property.

- Do not park, block or stop on their driveways -

Enjoy the long weekend!

Warmly,

Mrs. Erica Gilbert, Principal

Dr. Jermaine Williams, Asst. Principal

Mr. Tony Tsujisaka, Asst. Principal
