August 7

Dear Rangel Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that you had a fantastic Thanksgiving break with your child. As we enter the holiday season, we want to keep you informed about important updates and upcoming events at our middle school.
Middle of the Year MAP Testing: This week, our middle school students completed the Middle of the Year MAP testing, allowing us to gather valuable data to better understand their academic progress. We will be thoroughly analyzing this information to tailor our support and educational strategies for each student over the next few months leading up to the STAAR exam.
Changes in Transportation Services: Starting December 11th, afternoon late buses will not be in operation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make these adjustments. Make sure your child is picked up at the appropriate time of 4:30 p.m. if they are a car rider. Afterschool buses will run as scheduled.
Limited Afterschool Activities: In preparation for our week of semester exams scheduled from December 19th to the 22nd, afterschool activities will be limited. We believe providing students with additional time to make it home and focus on their studies will contribute to their success during this critical exam period.
Early Release on December 22nd: This year, we will only have one day of early release, which is scheduled for December 22nd at 1:25 p.m. We kindly ask that all students clear the building by 2 p.m. on Friday so that our dedicated faculty and staff can also spend quality time with their families and kick off their well-deserved holiday vacation.
We appreciate your ongoing support and collaboration in creating a positive and successful learning environment for your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Wishing you and your family a joyful holiday season!

Junior Achievement at Rangel
Introducing an exciting opportunity for girls at Irma Lerma Rangel YWLS! Our new club empowers older students to teach younger peers essential foundations in financial literacy. This unique mentorship dynamic not only enhances understanding but also equips both age groups to apply these skills to complex real-world situations, extending well beyond college. By fostering connections between different age groups, we aim to strengthen our school community and elevate the Irma Lerma Rangel YWLS name beyond our campus. Engage in this impactful initiative, and not only will you gain valuable knowledge, but you'll also earn community service hours. Seniors have the added benefit of qualifying for graduation cords, certificates, and scholarship opportunities within Junior Achievement. Don't miss out on this amazing chance to learn, connect, and make a lasting impact!

Rangel Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Parents and guardians,
We kindly remind you to utilize the carpool lane when dropping off and picking up your child in the morning and afternoon. The pink sign your child gave you is to assist with any Dallas Police blockades into our school, not to enter bus lane. With the Texas State Fair traffic, it is crucial to keep Pennsylvania Ave clear for buses only. Please refrain from using the bus lane as you will be turned away.
Additionally, we urge you not to block the carpool lane with stopped traffic on Robert B. Cullum. Blocking traffic or stopping in other lanes puts your child in danger. Let's prioritize their safety by keeping the carpool lane accessible and flowing smoothly.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in ensuring a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up process for all students.
