Mercy Value for Term 4 - Service
Term 4's mercy value is service. The mercy value of service is about helping others. One of the many ways in which our students show the value of service through our school is by being a 'peer mediator'. This is a 'cool schools' programme that teaches essential life skills for peaceful conflict resolution. The skills taught in this programme empower individuals to build positive, caring relationships with others, especially in times of conflict.
We are thankful for this and the many other service focused activities our students do.
World Teachers Day
At St Joseph's we are blessed with teachers who make a difference for our tamariki everyday.
SWIMMING - Water skills for Life
Students in Room 6 - 11 enjoyed a great week of swimming last week with over 90% of our students participating. We would like it to be 100% in Week 4 as water safety is an essential skill for every child in Aotearoa as we are surrounded by water.
They will need their togs everyday in Week 4 (7 - 11 November)
Water Skills for Life lessons aim to teach children how to keep themselves safe in, on, and around water. Our students gave great feedback on their week of swimming with some great progress being made.
We thank Aktive and Sport Auckland for funding this initiative.
Sunhats
They are available at 'The Warehouse' in Royal Oak.
Please note: They do not have the school logo on them.
Lunches
These lunches align with national food and nutrition guidelines, so your child is getting a good healthy FREE lunch every day.
Please only provide your child with a healthy morning tea (a piece of fruit).
We are very concerned with the amount of food wastage and unhealthy food being sent in school lunch boxes.
Water ONLY
Please only provide your child with a bottle of water. Any flavoured drinks will be sent home with your child.
Water fountains are operating and you child is able to access water during the school day.
