Robotic Club Competitions
All Families Invited
Each fall our FIRST Lego League Robotic teams prepare for competition against other teams in the region. The competitions are open to the public and free of charge. Drop in to watch the White Arrows or Green Arrows compete. Robots are built and programmed by our students under the guidance of adult coaches and mentors. All student team members are homeschool students between grades 4 - 8. Most of our volunteers are parents in our homeschool program.
This year the CRHSAP Robotic Club added a third team! Children Kindergarten through 3rd grade learn basic building and programming techniques with Lego WeDo robotic kits. This level of league participation shows off their learning in an Expo format rather than a formal competition. Visit the Fiery Arrows booth at their first ever Expo event!
There are two Regional Qualifier competitions in our area. One of our teams will be representing the CRHSAP at each of these events. We hope you will come out to see them compete!
If you have children who enjoy building with Legos, who are curious about robots, or have a natural inclination toward STEM-related subjects this would be a fun family outing and a great time to watch our teams in action!

Fall Into the Season with P.A.T.T.
Fall is here and P.A.T.T. (Parents and Teachers Together) has been working hard planning events and activities to bring Homeschool Program we all love even closer.
To start things off, we have a fundraiser coming up at Barnes and Noble. This will be held Saturday, December 14th. That's right, we have a SATURDAY time slot. We are a little excited for this amazing fundraiser. We are looking for volunteers to donate a couple hours of their day wrapping presents, giving out information, or answering any questions regarding our HSAP program. The president of our P.A.T.T. program, Mrs. Katherine Z., will be in touch with the volunteers regarding times.
Announcing the start of the first P.A.T.T. CR student club, Reading Raptors & Book Bella Book Club. This group is open to all K-6th grade students. It is an inter-school monthly book club. We have students who are from the public school system, MHSAP, and the CRHSAP. If your child is a book lover or you wish they would develop a passion for literature, this is the group for them. Raptors and Book Bellas will participate in book themed play, crafts, field trips and activities.
We also have our monthly Mom's Night coming up at Olive Garden October 22nd at 6:30. Also, mark your calendar for November's mom night which will be at Panera Bread on November 19th at 6:30.
First meeting will be held at the downtown Cedar Rapids Children's Library on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30 to 11:30. To sign up please contact Katherine Zanger at cedarrapidspatt@gmail.com
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT CRHSAP!!
We want everyone to help us vote for our very own Homeschool mascot! With Ms. Cheryl's assistance, the enrichment students and CRHSAP staff narrowed down the choices. Please use this link to vote for your favorite! It's exciting to know the possibilities we have now with great teachers, parents and students all coming together!
We are always looking for volunteers, any feedback, questions or comments you might have. We have a great way for you to stay connected with our Facebook page Cedar Rapids HSAP Parents. Please feel free to post pictures, questions or comments you might have and updates will be here too.
Happy Fall everyone! Hope to see everyone at the events!
CRHSAP P.A.T.T.

HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA

We hope you’ll plan on coming to our holiday event.

To accomplish all this, we are looking for a few more vendors, bake sale items to be donated on that day, pianists to play throughout the evening (we’ll have time slots to sign up for in the December newsletter), and families to come and shop, enjoy the music, and have some pizza for dinner.
What a wonderful time to get together with CRHSAP families and kickoff your holiday season!
