Check Out What's Happening in Library Media Class!
- Celebrating Black History month by learning about and celebrating the accomplishments and contributions African American have made for our society and country. We will explore biography resources and databases to learn about famous African Americans and their historical contributions.
- Digital Literacy Skills. Students will examine and use new online resources and databases as they develop safe and effective searching skills. Students will practice searching various sources and experiment with different key words as part of their search. This unit is part of a broader curriculum to help our students become good digital citizens.

Library Policies
Lost/Misplaced Books
If a student has a lost or misplaced book, please consider the following steps.
1. Have the student check everywhere at home: under beds, behind or under couches, mixed into home bookshelves. Hemenway library books will have a barcode on the backside of the book that says Hemenway Library and a label on the spine (binding).
2. Have the student double-check their classroom. Students will often mix library books in with their classroom books.
3. You will receive a notice that your book is lost from the library system. If you cannot find the book, you may either donate a book (preferably hardcover) or pay cash to replace it. Please put cash in an envelope with student's name.
4. If none of these options work, please contact me.
- Notices for late books will be sent home through email just to remind you and your child what books should be returned.
- There are no late fees.
- Students with overdue books will not be able to check out print books until the book is returned. Students will still will always be able to check out e-books on Sora.
- Please make sure students are returning books to the library and not to their classroom library. Please remind students not to lend library books to their friends as they will still be responsible if it gets lost.
- To help students, I suggest having a spot on at home or in their backpack where they put books back each time they are done with them to bring back to the library.
