Family
Jazz is a high school student who's father, once a famous serial killer, is now in jail. When more murders start to happen Jazz tried to defend his innocence. He didn't want people to think he was a killer like his father. He wanted them to see him as his own person.
Truth
"And my parents made me want i am. So what? We get stuff from our parents, but we also get stuff from the world around us. From people around us. And at the end of the day, we're us." Jazz realizes that although he is his own person he is also a product of whats around him and his parents.
Discovery
"Who am I? I'll tell you. I'm the local psychopath, and if you don't save my best friend's life, I will hunt down everyone you've ever cared about in your life and make you watch while I do things to them that will have you begging me to kill them. That's who I am." Jazz realizes who he truly is, a killer. Turns out his identity is very similar to his father's.
Family
Nosotros Somos Dios follows a family during the Mexican civil War. In the play there is don Justo who is the father of the family and works for the government while Huerta is president. Don Justo's son, Carlos, looks up to him. Carlos believes his father a good and honorable man. Carlos has different beliefs from his father but doesn't act on them because he loves his father.
Truth
However that all changes. Carlos goes to his father to ask him for help, eleven of his friends, including his girlfriend, are arrested and Carlos wants his dad to help them. Not only does don Justo refuse to help but he also gives orders for all the kids who were arrested to be killed. After overhearing this Carlos' veiw of his father gets completely flipped. Carlos realizes his father is not only a terrible person, but also is responsible for the death of the love of his life.
Discovery
Carlos then decides to follow his own ideas and beliefs and joins the revolution. After he leaves, he is arrested and brought back to his house. After being brought back he talks to his father. Don Justo, wants his son to return home, but wants it to be his own choice. However, Carlos says "this isn't my home." he says he has "found a new family" with the revolutionaries. Don Justo asks Carlos what he would like to do. Carlos responds "To return with my friends. To die with them." He rebels against his fathers ideas to find who he is. He finds his identity as a revolutionary.
Run Joey Run is very similar to what happened with Carlos and his father.
