Apple ID
The first thing you'll want to do is decide if you plan to use an Apple ID for your work iPad. NISD teachers may create a new Apple ID for work or use an existing personal Apple ID. If you chose to use your personal ID, just be aware that any content on the device is subject to district review per the NISD Acceptable Use Policy.Get Organized
Take time to organize your iPad. It's very simple to save websites to your home screen. Save things such as Teacher Access Center, your course netSchool page, frequently used Google Forms, and anything else you use on a daily basis. This will save you an invaluable amount of time!
Be Mobile
While the iPads have many uses in education, the main reason we love iPads in the classroom is the increased ability of the teacher to be mobile. Every NISD teacher has access to either Doceri and/or Air Server. Doceri is a remote control app that allows you to control your Dell laptop, annotate on the screen, insert pictures taken from your iPad, insert a blank whiteboard screen, and more! Air Server is a mirroring app where you have the ability to "mirror" or show your iPad screen on your laptop thus projecting the image. In both cases, the end result is that the teacher is NOT tied to the desk.
The Struggle is Real, Fail Forward
When learning something new, you are bound to make mistakes. Using the iPad in the classroom is no different. Try, adjust, persist. Know that in the end, it will make a huge impact.
Supplemental Training
There is an optional training course, iPads for Educators, in netSchool that is separated into three simple modules.
