Week 7
We have enjoyed a fun week in the classroom ending with "boat races" in gym class. The students had a brief version of Literacy Centers which they brought home today. All the Charlotte's Web papers were done in centers. Our goal is for the children to work independently while I pull groups to read with. Tuesday your children brought home their reading books. They are to practice for fluency which is to make their reading sound like talking. Please help your child bring their take-home books back on Tuesday to get new ones. We are working on stories with our book buddies which are creative and funny. Be sure to ask your child what they are writing about.
Jog-a-thon is on Wednesday next week with a rain date of Friday. Please help your child remember sunscreen, tennis shoes, their t-shirt, which will come home Tuesday. Please be sure to help them dress for the weather as well, layers are best. We will be jogging in the morning.
We have begun working with coins in math. See if your child can recognize the coins in your pocket or change jar. We have started with the penny and are going on to the nickel. Helping your child count by fives and tens would also be great.
Thank you for all you do!
Have a relaxing weekend.
