Patrick Marsh Middle School Band

This Week in Band at PMMS (Dec 21-23, 2015)

Look What I Learned!

As you know, Mrs. Haraldson and I were in Chicago this past Wednesday-Friday at the Midwest Band Clinic. This is an International Conference with some of the world's most outstanding bands, composers and music educators. Along with learning how to do fancier newsletters, we heard concerts by amazing high school and middle school bands. I met with our composer Ms. Alex Shapiro to discuss the piece she is writing for us (see photo below). I also talked to last year's composer, John Mackey who gave us a signed copy of "Lightning Field" (see below). I also met with Brian Balmages (see below) to discuss what he will write for us next school year! Finally, I took a picture of a signed "Star Wars" conductor's score by composer John Williams! New Information

WSMA Solo/Ensemble Festival (Feb 13 @ PVMS)

Just a reminder to those who have students participating in this event to pay your registration fees. My goal is to send you an email this week with the amount you owe (if you haven't paid yet). Remember, all Friday Morning Ensembles will participate in this event. Exact times will not be available until after the New Year.

This Week In Lessons

We will do Thursday lessons on Monday and Friday lessons on Tuesday this week. Wednesday will be the normal Wednesday lessons. This way we will have seen all of the students for a lesson the past two weeks. Find your child's lesson time here:

Instruments Home Over Break

Encourage your kids to take their instruments home over Winter Break. With Solo/Ensemble, Concert Music, WSMA Honors Auditions, and a new composition coming, we have much work to do. Have them play their solo at a family gathering!
