Mountain Springs Elementary
August 2022 Back to School Parent Information
Welcome Back!!!
We are so excited to have our students back with us at Mountain Springs Elementary! Our staff loved seeing all of the bright, shining faces at our Open House, Thursday! We are looking forward to a wonderful new school year! Our staff has been working hard over the summer to make this new year the BEST learning experience possible for our students!
We are very excited to try and get back to pre-Covid norms! We are looking forward to having volunteers back in the building with us! Listed below are a few important facts that we would like to share with you. We hope by reviewing these facts, it will help to ensure that we have a great school year!
Important Facts:
- NEW CHANGE: Mountain Springs will return to ONE morning drop-off location this school year. Parents may drop their students off each morning at the FRONT door/drive between 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Mountain Springs first bell is at 7:50 a.m. with the tardy bell at 8:00. No child may be dropped off at school before 7:30 a.m. each morning. If your child arrives after 8:00, a parent will need to come inside and check-in the student.
- Our security procedures for entering the building are still in effect. Always be prepared to show identification when entering.
- Parents will be allowed to walk their child to their classroom during the first week of school. Starting Monday, August 29th, students will need to walk by themselves to class.
- Afternoon car riders will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. The front car line is for PreK, Kdg, & 4th grade students. The side car line is for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade student dismissal. Siblings may dismiss from the area where the youngest child is assigned. Display your student sign in your front windshield at all times during pick-up.
- Any changes in your child’s usual dismissal plan needs to be sent in writing to your child’s teacher. If a teacher does not get a note or a phone call, your child will be sent home the usual way. Students may not verbally tell these changes to their teacher.
Mountain Springs faculty and staff want to thank you for sharing your child with us this year! We look forward to working with you to help your child have a very successful year! When there is a strong partnership between home and school, education does indeed succeed. Good communication and parent involvement are extremely important to us. Students learn better when their parents are involved. If we can help you in any way, please let us know!

Morning Drop-Off!
Three Fun Ideas to Make Going Back to School Exciting!
1) Purchase an alarm clock for your student and teach them how to use it. Have them be responsible for starting their morning routine.
2) At least once a week, slip a note into your child's lunchbox or backpack. Include silly jokes and maybe even a top ten list of things that you love about your child.
3) It is never too early or too late to read to your child! Take time every night to spend some time reading a good book right before bedtime! :-)
CPS Elementary Student Cell Phone Policy
In the 2022-23 Student Handbook (p. 44) the following is stated regarding student cell phone use:
Elementary Schools & Middle Schools: Students may bring cell phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices, but must leave them turned off (other than pre-approved medical exceptions) and put out of sight from the time the student arrives on campus until the student leaves campus.
