Tuesdays TIP
Making Time to Practice
"T"imeless "I"mpactful "P"ractice
It is so much better to practice in shorter sessions that are more frequent than to practice in fewer, longer sessions.
Try these tips from professionals:
- Have a regular practice routine. Make it part of your everyday life just like brushing your teeth or doing your homework!
- To make your practice worthwhile (improving your skills) you need to spend a minimum of 30 minutes for each session or practice for more than one session per day.
- If you leave your instrument "ready" in a safe place, then every time you enter your room play a slow and careful scale.
- Let your family know when you are going to practice so that they can help to limit your distractions.
- Be mindful of the time you are using unwisely....phone, TV, etc. It is a give and take.
- Reward yourself after meeting your goal of practice time.
- Remember, every day is a new day and a new start. Do not be so hard on yourself.
