November 2022
Yay for November! A month of gratitude, friends and family, traditions and an extra hour of sleep! I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful fall weather!
The fall book fair will take place this month, including our family evening on November 17 from 5pm-7pm. The PTA will also sponsor a Laker Gear 'Swap' for families on the same evening. This is a great, new event for families to donate outgrown gear to pass on for other generations to enjoy, while snagging some 'new' Laker gear for your growing kids! Proceeds from this year's fall book fair will go towards the Mental Health Team/Department. We are excited to be creating a new mental wellness suite for our students and staff members and proceeds will go towards furniture, lighting, activities and all things that will make the space welcoming, safe and supportive for all students.
The Read-A-Thon is also this month, which is a great opportunity for your child to spend some extra time reading for a good cause! Information will be forthcoming from the PTA.
With all this talk of reading, I wanted to share a video series through Reading Rockets and the National Educational Association, where experts answer real questions from families about reading and how to support their children's literacy at home. Check it out here!
As always, feel free to reach out with questions, concerns or feedback!
