Ramsey Families,
Thank you to all families who took time to connect with your student's Foundations Teacher or even perhaps other teachers for our Q1 fall conferences last Thursday. It is not too late to connect with your student's teachers as we offer two nights of conferences Q1. This coming Tuesday, you will have another opportunity to conferences with teachers, more information and link below.
Thank you for your partnership with us and we look forward to connecting virtually with you!
Sincerely,
Teresa Vibar

Safety Drills:
We will conduct the third set of safety drills next Monday and Tuesday. We will have a fire drill on Monday, October 18 @ 9:30 AM, with the Saint Paul Fire Department present. We will have a lockdown drill on Tuesday, October 19. Please have a discussion with your child about the importance of safety drills at school. Thank you!

Literacy Corner
As partners in your child's literacy development, we are excited to update you as students are increasing their reading volume, stamina and choice across the school day, many choosing what topics/articles they want to read about in content classes like Health and more. Building on the trust and relationships with both staff and students, scholars are choosing books to read in their reading and ELA classes from the school library, classroom library, and virtual library apps and focusing on studying and analyzing character at deepening levels from 6th grade to 8th. You might ask your scholar what, where, why, and how they chose to read this week.
Also, there's some talk of adding a Free Little Library outside our school. If interested in getting involved, please contact PTO or anne.sawyer@spps.org.

PTO Fundraising
We are all Stronger when We Work Together!
It’s October and this means we are starting our formal push for donations. We want our fundraising done before the end of the month!. We want to dedicate our focus, time, energy and resources on engaging and supporting our community, the real work! Help us reach our goals so we can stop asking you for money this year.
We need your help if we are going to reach our goals. We can not do this without your support.
Our Goals:
500 Total Donations
Average $25/student for the year (< $3 a month for the school year)
Only 1 fundraising campaign (this one) for the entire year!
Every penny helps, there are no minimum donations so please give what you can. If we all participate, we can share the load together.

If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign with your network and help us reach more people!
Please join the conversations on our Ramsey Facebook Group and visit us at our Monthly PTO meeting.
Tech Time
Security on New iPads
SPPS iPads have additional WiFi security settings this year. This is great news for parents, students, and staff. Websites like Facebook, Instagram and other non-academic websites cannot be accessed from SPPS WiFi. These websites will also be blocked on WIFI networks outside of school.
If you find your student needs additional limitations such as time limits or blocking types of sites, please let me know. I can send you the directions to set up Screen Time on the iPad.
Please note that many staff members use YouTube videos as part of teaching and learning. For that reason, YouTube should not be blocked on the student iPads.
If you have any questions, please email cara.hagen@spps.org.
Athletics - No Fall Sports Practice on Wednesday, Oct. 20th
There will NOT be athletics on Wednesday, October 20th. This is the day before MEA. All students that are out for a fall sport will be expected to go home on the bus right after school.
