Principal's Message

Dear Families,

This is a bittersweet time of year when we send our "finished product" of fifth graders off to their next adventure at the middle school. While we are sad to see them go, we are also proud of how far they have come in such a short time. I received an email from a family who has been a part of our MMES family for a number of years. In fact they have been a part of MMES since long before I arrived on campus. Their email is something that I thought worth sharing as it affirms the work that we all do every day at our wonderful school. We could not do what we do without all of your support and for that I thank YOU!

Dear John,

We have been parents of five children at Manchester Memorial for the last 17 years and in that time have never been without at least one child (sometimes three!) at the elementary school. We remember when 6th grade was still here and when the middle and high school were not quite as ‘aesthetically pleasing’ as they are today. Even then we knew that Memorial was a special place. Our family came to the school system after a family tragedy. Memorial and the amazing teachers and community embraced us and welcomed us with kindness. Cindy and all those in the main office have provided a calm and welcoming place for all manners of questions and concerns. With all of the Principals over time, we have always felt we were in good, strong and dependable hands.

There are no words to describe what an integral part of our children’s lives the teachers have been at Memorial. With three of our children now attending college, one in high school, and one about to graduate, they all remember back to their favorite years at Memorial and their most beloved teachers.

Lastly, the magnificent Joanne Seaman has been our ship in many storms as she dealt with all manners of illness, broken bones, anxiety, lice, and tears - and that was just for the parents. She deserves several medals for being such a nurturing and patient human being but most of all she deserves more thanks than we can ever give her for being there for all of our children, always.

To all of the parents where this is your first graduation and have younger kids to follow please know how incredibly lucky you are to have this school and all it represents. It has prepared them well for the next phase of their lives. The road to come will often be fraught with pot holes as they navigate middle school and high school pressures. Know that by sending them to Memorial you gave them a strong, kind educational foundation. Above all in this world, you gave them a safe place to be every day. For Manchester Memorial school, we will be forever grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank again for everything!

Have a great SUMMER!

Best,

John
