Tracing HIV Samples
New diseases in humans tend to pop up in animals, so the search was on. Around the time HIV was discovered, some researches found a virus like it in monkeys and called it SIV. They traced the SIV back until they came to the conclusion that Chimpanzees in Cameroon were the primates that we can traced our HIV virus outbreak back to.

Also, since HIV and AIDS are centered around Africa and have been there since the start of the virus, multiple organizations have been formed to try to help people and others have contributed funds to promote awareness and help.
Treating HIV/AIDS
AZT became the first treatment that has been approved for HIV. Since 1987, nearly 30 drugs have been approved to treat people with HIV/AIDS, with more under development.
Several names for these drugs include, "ARVs (Antiretrovirals)", "HAART or ART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy)" or "The Cocktail".
