CRHSAP Secures Grant for 3D Printer
How do people take an idea that resides in their head and turn it into something they can hold in their hand? Middle School and High School students who attend CRHSAP Enrichment Classes have been learning about a new medium for doing just that!
Students have been introduced to 3D design and printing. Using an on-line program called Tinkercad students have been learning the basics of designing in 3D. Using a MonoPrice Voxel 3D printer they can hold their ideas in their hand!
Thanks to the GE Additive Education Program that funded Mr. Wayne’s grant proposal last spring, our HSAP department now has two 3D printers, access to the Polar Cloud, tech support, and curriculum.
Home School students have uploaded and printed over 300 items since grant implementation began in October!
All prints originate through the design process and special file format with an .stl extension. Files can easily be uploaded to the Polar Cloud at www.polar3D.com and, with a join code, can be placed in que for printing. This can be done at school or from your home.
If you or your children are interested in using our departments 3D printer please contact Mr. Wayne at wfritch@crschools.us or 319.558.1031.

Schoolhouse Jazz
Tuesday, March 24, 2020
Schoolhouse jazz is a music enrichment program created by KCCK-FM to tap into the energy and curiosity of young people and help them begin to appreciate jazz and blues as fun music to listen to and important parts of our American heritage.
Through live performance, narration and interaction with musicians, these projects demonstrate how jazz and blues developed through social, economic and political changes in our country’s history, what sets them apart from other musical forms, and how they influence music today.
The project also gives students a better understanding of the wide variety of music available to them as they begin to make personal choices about preference and style.

Hy-Vee Receipts and Box-Tops
The Cedar Rapids and Marion Hy-Vee stores have kindly provided a local fund raising program for area schools called Cash 4 Students the past several years. Once again, we are participating in this fundraiser this year. The program is simple and based on the collection of Hy-Vee grocery receipts. Simply save your Hy-Vee grocery receipts and turn them into the CRHSAP office. At the end of the school year, a donation from Hy-Vee will be made to CRHSAP based on the receipt total.
The amount donated will be $1 for every $200 in receipts collected.
Start saving your receipts today!
Also you can turn those shopping trips into easy cash for CRHSAP. Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios®, Hamburger Helper® and Kleenex®, in almost every aisle of the store. All you need to do is clip and then turn them into the CRHSAP office — each one is worth 10¢ for our program.
To see a complete list of all products that have Box Tops on them, click on this link
www.boxtops4education.com/earn
This truly is a no hassle fundraiser and each box top helps to provide money for the “extras” for CRHSAP that are not covered by other funding.
