Tri-County Mental Health Services Parent Night
Talking about suicide does not plant the idea in someone’s head. Honest and direct dialogue can open communication and relieve stress for that person.
Know the warning signs and risk factors of suicide.
- Ask, “Do you ever feel so bad you have thoughts of suicide or self-harm?”
- Emphasize the importance of speaking up and seeking out help.
- Have your kids think of three trusted adults they can go to for support. This is the number one protective factor for youth.
For more resources on how to talk to your children about suicide, visit EncourageHopeAndHelp.com.
Join Tri-County for a Parent Night on February 20th from 6-7pm at Park Hill District Office.
Late Start Update
If we announce a delayed start for students, Southeast will start two hours after normal time at 10:40 AM, and morning bus pick-up times will be two hours after the normal pick-up times. School will end at its normal time (3:30 PM), and afternoon bus drop-off times will be the same as usual. Hot breakfast will not be available, but students will have the option of a Grab and Go breakfast. Lunchtimes will be a normal schedule.
If a parent or guardian believes, based on personal circumstances, that conditions pose a safety concern for their child to get to or from school, they can call the school for an excused absence.
Two-Hour Late Start Schedule
10:20-10:40 AM - Car riders can arrive
10:40 AM - School begins
3:30 PM - School ends

Habits At Home: Habit 3: Put First Things First
Put First Things First means to decide what is most important and to take care of that first. Thinking about what needs to be done tomorrow or by the end of the week can be overwhelming, especially for children. Learning to think of which things are the most important and taking care of them first allows children (and adults) to be less stressed. I
- Create a list of things your child needs to accomplish throughout a week. With your child, rank the tasks in importance. Then rewrite the list in order of importance. Use a planner or calendar to schedule time so that the important things are done first.
- Role-play with your child about the consequences of forgetting to study for a math test. How will your child feel? What are the consequences? Then role-play how it will feel to be well prepared and get a great match score!
- Encourage your child to design or decorate his or her own planner or weekly activity log.
- Ask your child to make a list of what he or she thinks is his or her biggest time-waster and what to do about it
- Read Chapter 3 of The 7 Habits of Happy Kids book with your child and then complete the Parent’s Corner.

Do You Know A Park Hill Star?
The Park Hill Star recognition program was started in 2015 to celebrate support staff and teachers whose work is especially noteworthy.
The following is an overview of the Park Hill Star Program:
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee.
Southeast Communication
You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities throughout the year on the Southeast website , Facebook, Twitter and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you by the school with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call, email, or stop by the school with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
