Delran High School, an inclusive learning community, provides educational opportunities for intellectual development while valuing the importance of cultural diversity and tradition.
A Message from Mr. Finkle!
Hello DHS Community! I hope that everyone has enjoyed their last month since school ended. We have a very busy summer here at DHS as we prepare for the 2021-22 school year.
What Does Next Year Look Like?
I am sure that you are all wondering what the school year will look like in terms of masks, social distancing, etc. I do not have any solid answers to these questions as of today; however, I can tell you that we have discussed with the public, teachers, students, and amongst the administration and will have a plan in place that will be communicated out to all of you.
Some dates(NOT ALL) that are important...
July 30: Last day to change schedules fir the 2021-22 School Year!
August 16: Senior Portraits Begin (see note below)
August 16: Parent and Student Portals open for schedules!
August 25: New Student Orientation (more information will be mailed out next week)
September 8: First Day of School!
October 9: Homecoming
Student Registration
Some people have inquired about the FamilyID sign-up for registration this year at DHS. Our athletic program is still using FamilyID; however, the school will be moving to the Parent Portal for registration. This should make things a lot easier for everyone!!!! We are continuing to work with the student management system and should have that up and running shortly. I will email everyone as soon as we go live! Please remember that you must register your child each and every year!
Students In Good Standing
In order for a student to be considered in good standing status, a student must meet the following criteria:
satisfy the minimum academic requirements (no more than 1 class below a 60%).
be within the limits of the established discipline code (no more than 15 points).
be within the limits of the established attendance code (fewer than twelve (12) unexcused absences or lateness combined).
have no outstanding fines or obligations.
satisfied the Community Service requirement (Seniors only).
Realtime Registration(Parent Portal) has been completed by October 1.
A student who is found to NOT be in good standing will be ineligible for many privileges, including but not limited to the following: Homecoming, Prom, Graduation, Dances, Field Trips, participation in clubs, activities, and athletics.
Any student who is found to NOT be in good standing for any of the above reasons above, will have the opportunity to appeal to the Principal or designee.
Senior Portraits
Senior Portraits will take place beginning on August 16th and concluding on August 19th. You should have received a postcard from Lifetouch Studios explaining how to schedule your child's sitting. HERE is a flyer which explains the steps if you did not receive that card. If you are on vacation that week and not in town, make-up sessions will be scheduled on September 27th and 28th. It is important for all Seniors to make appointments so that they can be included in the yearbook.
Yearbook Information
Our Yearbook advisors have developed a Senior Packet to guide you and your child through the Yearbook process. It lists all due dates, websites, and contact information for everyone involved!
HERE is the document. Any questions should be directed to Austin Martinez and Justine Carey.
Summer Reading and Assignments
Every student who will be in school in September has a summer assignment! Each student will take part in the Delran Reads! program. More information is below. If your child is taking a Mathematics course, they will also have that assignment which will be due during the first couple of days of school. Most AP Courses also have work to be completed. HERE are a listing of all Summer Assignments! DO NOT wait until the first week of September to begin them!
Athletics
By far, the biggest frustration with fall sports is that students come prepared to practice and their paperwork or physicals have not been completed and therefore they are not cleared to participate. Please be proactive! Below is the link for FamilyID which must be completed. Also, physicals must be current (within the last 365 days). If your child has not had a physical within that time frame, make the appointment now! Once we receive the physical paperwork, it takes up to two weeks to have the school doctor approve the physical, making your child eligible.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at dfinkle@delranschools.org or (856) 461-6100 x3005.

Delran Reads - Summer Assignment
In an effort to continue to encourage reading over the summer, we have again created a list of top-rated, high-interest books. Students at Delran High School will be required to read a book of their choice over the summer. Please view this presentation for information about the reading choices. Included you will find plot descriptions and parental information. All books are recommended for Grades 9-12, unless otherwise noted.
Please consult with your children, as students will be choosing their top choice book to read this summer during English class. Students are reminded to make note of their book choice. Each student is only responsible for reading one (1) book. No changes may be made after the final selection is provided.
A school wide culminating assessment will follow at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
DHS College Essay Workshop
This workshop is designed for members of the Class of 2022 who plan to apply to colleges in the fall of 2021. At the end of this course, students will have a completed final draft of a college application essay. DHS students will be given preference, but students from other schools may also enroll starting on June 1st.
Please click HERE for the information flyer.
Kindergarten Registration
We are attempting to locate children who live in Delran and are eligible for entrance into kindergarten for the September 2021-2022 school year.
If you have a child or know of a friend or neighbor who has a child in Delran who will be five (5) years of age ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 1, 2021, please visit the informational page.
NJ Association for College Admission Counseling
Virtual College Exploration is for all New Jersey Students. Explore this website as a great resource with over 150 recorded webinars!!
Naviance
All students 10th -12th have an account.
Naviance is a web-based tool that allows your student to explore their values, personality, strengths and correlate them to career clusters. It directs them to colleges with suggested majors so that they can build a list of colleges to explore.
Seniors and Juniors can see upcoming college visitations and request to attend directly in Naviance.
All students should be building their personal activity resume.
Ask your student to share with you what they are doing in Naviance.
College Planning
- Students at all grade levels are encouraged to begin exploring colleges
- Build your list of colleges of interest in Naviance.
- Consult the Guidance website’s subsection, “College and Career Virtual Tours and Information”. Check this page often as it is updated when new tour and virtual Open Houses are made available. Many events are exclusively for DHS students and may require registration for select events.
Scholar-ship info
Throughout the school year scholarships are posted on the Guidance webpage, listed in Naviance, search engines are in Collegeboard.org, and Fast-web.com.
