Woman in this time era are oppressed by men and are expected to not be affected by this oppression and to obey them.

In Antigone and 'The Yellow Wallpaper", the women are oppressed by the men. They feel like they are controlled by them and are helpless.

In the Story of An Hour she feels that she is set free from her husband and is over joyed. In the Left-Handed Commencement Addresss it talks about women being percieved as helpless and weak.
