Section 2
Chapter 6-8
"During those four weeks in Carthage, McCandless worked hard, doing dirty, tedious jobs that nobody else wanted to tackle: mucking out warehouses, exterminating vermin, painting, scything weeds." (Krakauer 50)
Chris was fond of charthage and made sure to return even if only to work.
"McCandless made an indelible impression on a number of people during the course of his Hegira, most of whom spent only a few days in his company" (Krakauer 39)
Chris left a profound impack on people, and those that had the pleasure of meeting him did not forget about him.
"These days most of the lots remain vacant and are gradually being reclaimed by the desert. Tumbleweeds scuttle down Salton City's broad, desolate boulevards. Sun-bleached FOR SALE signs line the curbs, and paint peels from uninhabited buildings." (Krakauer 39)
while it may have once been the center of a realestate frenzie little of the construction came to pass making Salton city a relitivly insignificant place.
As stated many times throughout the book there was tension between Chris and his parents.
Many people urged Chris not to go into the wilderness ill prepared but he refused to listen.
