Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 4th November 2016
learning is fun!
new sport skills
learning through play
It's amazing how much our younger children learn in the Nursery and Reception classes, especially when they just seem to be having so much fun! The little girls pretending it was bedtime specifically mentioned that they were going to have a milky drink before bed and read a bedtime story - well done all you parents for making sure our children love reading from such an early age!
Dragon invasion!
Aren't our children fortunate to have teachers and teaching assistants who plan and deliver such imaginative lessons to develop their skills and knowledge?
parent forum
Thank you for all the ideas we have received on the return slips, and for offers to join the Parent Forum. It's great to gather input from parents, and we're looking forward to having a better read through your replies so that we can plan meeting times, discussion points and class representatives.
christmas appeal
A letter should have come home today about a Christmas appeal that our Year 6 Charity group are organising.
The One organisation is a local charity which helps local people and this year, instead of shoeboxes, the charity group are asking for donations of suitable gifts for needy local children. There is more information on the letter...and look out for more news from our fabulous charity group soon!
in remembrance
our governors
naming uniform
Lexi Cotton's mum did name her new PE kit but unfortunately it has still gone missing. We think it must have been picked up by accident on the last day before the break, possibly by someone who normally does the Friday gym club. Please could you check at the back of the understairs cupboard or your child's wardrobe to see if a stray PE kit has been abandoned there! Thank you.
photo orders
Please remember to send back your orders with payment in the envelope provided by Monday 7th November.
Friends of Ripon Cathedral School Update
We have been busy making preparations for this half term's fundraising activities. We would love it if you can spare some time to volunteer your help at next Friday's school disco and to prepare and run our Christmas events! Details below...
School disco Friday 11th November, infants 5.30 - 6.30 and juniors 6.45 - 7.45. A parent or carer will need to stay with your child for the infants disco - thank you. Please get in touch if you can lend a hand on the evening with serving refreshments.
Hyacinth potting up - if you are free on the 23rd November, we will be potting up hyacinths to sell at the Cathedral Christmas Fair. There is plenty to do and all help is very much appreciated. Pop into the school office or speak to a member of the committee if you can spare a bit of time. Thank you.
We will be selling raffle tickets for our school Christmas raffle at Booths on the 24th November and also need volunteers to help with this. If you can spare an hour, please let school or a member of the committee know. Thanks.
If you have a small business and would like a stall at our Christmas fair on the 8th December, please let us know. We are in need of volunteers to help make our Christmas Fair a success on the 8th December, please get in touch if you can run a game or can help serve refreshments. Thank you!
And finally, thank you to everyone who came to the Friends meeting this week. Our next meeting will be at the Water Rat pub, 7.30 pm on Tuesday 15th November.
cathedral news
This Sunday sees the first session of our exciting new “Children’s Church Xtra”
All children are invited for free art and craft activities in the Cathedral Hall on High St Agnesgate.
Children can be dropped off with us at 10.30am and collected at 11.30am. There is ample parking/drop off space in the Cathedral Hall car park.
Parents who wish to attend our 10.30am Eucharist Service can have their children delivered to the Cathedral by us. Attending the service is not obligatory though of course you are welcome, as always, to worship with us.
We are really excited about this new venture and hope you will support us. All ages are welcome, but a family member should accompany pre-school children.
Looking forward to seeing you!
