MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Dear Mariano Castro Parents,
Our annual earthquake drill is this week. The students and staff practice each year with the full operations that would take place in the event of a real earthquake. We practice the building safety checks, search and rescue, and pretend medical situations as well as blocked classrooms and routes. This is a very thorough simulation and helps staff and students to be prepared and calm in the event of a real emergency. Please talk with your child after the simulation occurs and help them to understand the importance of taking emergency practice seriously.
Best Regards,
Theresa Lambert
Principal Mariano Castro Elementary

Walkathon Pledges
Remember to turn in all the pledges collected from the Walkathon.
Thank you!
Box Tops for Education
Castro is collecting Box Tops for Education to raise money for our school. Please look for them on food packages. Cut them out and keep them in the corner of a kitchen drawer. You can use a baggie or envelope to collect Box Tops and return them to school. The Office and the classrooms have collection boxes. Remember to turn them in soon. Our first deadline is 10/27.
Labels for Education
Did you know that the Labels for Education Program is ending? After decades of helping schools with fundraising, the program will soon close. Please turn in any “Labels” that you may have. They will be collected through October 27, 2017. They are often found on Campbell’s Soup Cans and BIC Products. Ask your neighbors, family, and friends if they have any for your child’s school. In past years we have used this program to acquire new playground equipment and other items for Castro.
