Principal's Perspective
We had a full week of school and we had so many fun events! Our kindergarteners celebrating learning all of their letters with an awesome ABC fashion show and parade today. The 4th grade hallway was also super rowdy with new house cheers being created as they do more with their houses!
We're also in high planning for our Maple Glen carnival. Thank you for supporting the class baskets and reading through newsletters with updates in the coming weeks. We couldn't have these awesome school events without your help. You are appreciated!

What: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish
Parenting experts Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish provide effective step by step techniques to help you improve and enrich your relationships with your children.
Learn how to:
· Break a pattern of arguments
· Cope with your child's negative feelings
· Engage your child's co-operation
· Set clear limits and still maintain goodwill
· Express your anger without being hurtful
· Resolve family conflicts peacefully
When: We will have two options for meetings: 9:00-10:00am or 6:30-7:30pm. You can pick which one works best for your schedule each month!
Monday, Feb. 26th
Tuesday, Mar. 19th
Monday, Apr. 29th
You can still participate even if you can't make it to each month's session. We will send out an RSVP prior to each one - join us when you can!
For the evening sessions, we hope to provide child care for ages 5+ and pizza, depending on our numbers! Please RSVP to help us get an idea of how many adults and kids we can expect. Child care is provided by WMS students through the NJHS program, so unfortunately it will only be offered for the evening sessions.

A Note from the Nurse
Dear Parents,
We are entering the time of year when we are seeing an increase in Influenza (Flu) other respiratory viruses and many cases of Strep Throat at Maple Glen. Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat and lungs. It is different from a cold, in that symptoms appear suddenly. Flu symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, feeling tired and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. Flu can vary from mild to severe and can cause secondary infections like pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus and ear infections.
People with the flu can infect others 1 day before symptoms start and up to 5-7 days after they become ill. If your child is experiencing any symptoms please keep them home and away from others until their symptoms improve and they have remained fever free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
Please remember that your child’s symptoms are the biggest clue as to whether you should be keeping them home or sending them to school. If their symptoms are bothersome, causing them not to be able to learn or be productive, do not send them to school. This will help the spread of germs, sparing others the risk of becoming sick. Our main goal is to keep all of our students and staff healthy at Maple Glen.

To be prepared for our guests and to check the Safe Visitor Registration of incoming visitors (this is required for every visitor) please make sure you register 24 hours in advance.
We allow 5 visitors per grade level lunch. Please use one slot per person signing up. Due to limited space, visitors will be sitting with their child(ren) at their classroom tables. You have the option of bringing in a home packed lunch or purchasing a lunch at school. No fast food will be allowed at this time. Lunch menus can be found here. The price of an adult lunch is $4.80.
Attendance and Dismissal
Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
Dismissal Changes
If you have a dismissal change, please let the front office know by 1:00pm. This gives the office enough time to notify your child is where they’re supposed to be at the end of the day! Please DO NOT leave dismissal changes on the attendance line.
To notify the front office of a dismissal change, call (317) 896-4711, or email:
