Green Meadow Update
Robert Rouleau
Welcome 2021-2022
All signs are pointing to a great school year at Green Meadow. Our teachers have been working tirelessly to get their classrooms ready in preparation for their students. Our office staff, has spent the summer registering new students, sending out letters to families and updating the student database online. Our custodians have been busy moving furniture in and out of classrooms and thoroughly cleaning the building.
All we are missing now, are the smiling faces of our PK-3 students! We can't wait to see them all.

COVID Update
While we are very excited about the new school year, we recognize that this school year will continue to be atypical. We are actively working with district leadership, our nursing department, the Board of Health, and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education when creating a plan for Green Meadow.
All staff and students will wear a mask in the building until we are advised differently. Clear masks and face shields have been ordered and will be made accessible to staff.
Classrooms have been set up to provide appropriate spacing between students while also fostering social connections and academic access.
Picnic Tables will be placed in the courtyard for teachers to expand their classrooms.
P.E. classes will be scheduled outside weather permitting.
We will have scheduled mask breaks during recess, snack, and additional outdoor work times. Teachers may also walk students to specials outside for an additional mask break.
Lunch will be served in our cafeteria. We will be operating at 50% capacity for the start of school, with only one grade level per lunch session. Each Lunch table has been outfitted with plexiglass and students will be sitting in assigned seats for contact tracing purposes. We are exploring other seating options should we need to increase protocols.
We anticipate challenges along the way but we also recognize that as a community we were able to work through many challenges last year. We thank you in advance for your patience and support as we balance all of the needs of our community.
District Update on COVID Testing Program
Maynard Public Schools will be working with CIC Health for testing options this year. The possibilities include Diagnostic Testing and Routine COVID safety checks (formally called pool testing). CIC will be providing a Program Coordinator and staff to facilitate testing within Maynard Public Schools. Maynard Public Schools has signed up to administer the following types of COVID Testing.
Symptomatic Testing: (for when individuals present symptoms while at school; individuals should not go to school if experiencing symptoms while at home): Shallow, nasal swab samples are collected at school using the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test or another approved diagnostic test.
"Test and Stay" (close contact testing): Shallow, nasal swab samples are collected at school using the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test or another approved diagnostic test. Tests are administered daily from the first day of exposure for at least five (5) days.
The district will also conduct one type of Routine COVID safety check:
Routine COVID Pooled Testing and School-Based Follow-Up Testing: Shallow, nasal swab samples are collected at school and put into a single tube (maximum of 10 samples per tube). If a group tests positive, individual Follow-Up testing with a second sample collection occurs at the school with BinaxNOW and/or individual PCR testing, as necessary.
OR
Routine COVID Pooled Testing and Lab-Based Follow-Up Testing: Shallow nasal or saliva samples are collected and kept separate before being grouped at the lab. If a group tests positive, individual Follow-Up testing occurs at the lab, without a second sample collection. Individual test results are reported to the school.
More information about each of the options will be coming.
This link will take you to a flow chart on our website to assist with understanding the 2021-2022 procedures of quarantining. The information regarding health and safety is constantly evolving, and we will continue to adjust as necessary.
