I am born and raised in the Lowcountry, specifically Moncks Corner! I am majoring in Early Childhood Education and would love to teach first grade! I am currently on the board of a nonprofit organization, Charleston Hope. We partner with Title 1 schools, which is where my heart and passion is! I am also planning my dream wedding!

A Disney Proposal

At the end of April, Josh and I went to Disney World, my favorite place in the world, to celebrate our six years of dating and my 21st birthday. Much to my surprise, after lunch Josh took me in front of Cinderella's Castle to 'take some pictures' and he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! We are planning a morning wedding at Magnolia Plantation on July 24, 2016. We are serving breakfast foods and having a Dunkin Donut wedding cake!

Charleston Hope

I am the secretary of Charleston Hope! We partner with Title 1 schools which has stemmed by passion for teaching Title 1 students. Our biggest project is Adopt a Classroom in which we adopt Title 1 schools and with the help of businesses in the area, we provide all the students a Christmas present and hot meal! It is the most touching experience ever and really makes you appreciate what you have! The reactions of the students melts your heart!

Why Education?

I am the oldest in my family, between my two younger sisters and 20 younger cousins. I have grown up playing and taking care of my younger family members and teaching them things along the way. I have always known that I wanted a career that involved working with children and quickly realized that teaching was my calling. I have loved teaching children and being the support and source of love away from home! From working with Charleston Hope, I have found my true calling of working with children in Title 1 schools; that is exactly where my heart is. I need to be in an environment where children need constant support and love and someone who truly believes in them!

Best Education Memory

In third grade, I had the best teacher ever, Mrs. Bowers. We were learning about South Carolina and the regions of the state. To help us remember the regions, Mrs. Bowers brought the entire class cookies in the shape of South Carolina. She brought in some M&Ms and we had to label our cookies into the regions with the M&Ms. It really showed me that learning can be fun and doesn't have to always be taking notes and completing worksheets.
