Be the Best YOU at Grandview!!!
Holiday Season.....let the excitement begin
There are a lot of excitement at Grandview this holiday season. With the excitement that the holidays brings, sometimes learning becomes lost. Please help encourage your child that there is still a month of learning.
Additionally, making home learning an important part of life at home will show your youngster that her education matters. Letting your child work independently will also send the message that you believe in them. Consider these strategies.
- Provide backup :Allow your youngster to work on their own, but tell them you’re available if they need you. If they are confused about the directions for an assignment. You could encourage them to reread them slowly or maybe read them aloud to them. If they are not sure how to approach a math problem, you might look at similar problems together.
- Give feedback: Point out to your child what they are doing well—you’ll inspire them to repeat the behavior in the future. For instance, if you notice they started a long-term project the day it was assigned, you could say, “Nice move! Now you have plenty of time to come up with good ideas and do your best.”
- Show interest: Glance over finished homework so you know it’s done and your youngster knows you care. Also, look at returned assignments. They might proudly share a nice comment their teacher wrote on their assignment. Or if a paper has spelling errors, ask how they can avoid the same problem next time, perhaps by looking up unfamiliar words in a dictionary.
In the end, when you take a vested interest in their learning, your child will be more focused on their learning.
Your Proud Principal,
Melissa Carruth, Ed.S

Holiday Shop
FOG has decided to only do 2 days for Holiday shop this year.
DEC.4 &5 @6:30pm-8pm both nights.
We are going to sell pizzas that night too. See below for more information.
At this event, we would like to have vendors sell their items during these nights. So we are in need of vendors. FOG is still looking for vendors. A % of sales DOES NOT have to go back to FOG. Instead $10 table rate per night or $20 total to book a table.
NOTE: Also we are looking for more volunteers for this event. If you are available to help shoppers, wrapping, and set-up, clean-up, and directing traffic. This is a great event, but we need more help!! Please sign-up at the sign-up genius...
SCRIPTS Gift Card Orders for FOG
The orders are due by 11/26 for a delivery date of 12-7.
Please see the flyer below to see the gift card options that are part of this fundraiser.
Grandview Dinner
Grandview Math Night
Is cancelled and will be rescheduled for January!! Please stay tuned for more details. We are looking for our STMath volunteers and Ford Engineers to ensure this to be a great event for our learners!!
Tardy
We have had a lot of students arriving late. Tardies start at 8:40 and will be tracked. If your child comes in after the class did the lunch count, then they will automatically get PB&J as their lunch choice. Lunch counts will not be finalized until after 8:40. If you know your child is going to be late, then please call in the tardy and select your child's lunch choice to ensure that they can get another choice. Our lunch counts are becoming very lopsided and we need to ensure that the children are getting the choice that they signed up for. Also we need our students on time for school!!
Fundraiser
Pinter's Wreath to support 5th Grade Campers
The wreaths and poinsettias sale are a 5th graders fundraiser to help the students raise money to go to camp. If other Grandview families would like to purchase wreaths and poinsettias, that would be wonderful as the profit would go into a general fund to sponsor students who may need assistance in raising money.
Wreath orders are due by Nov. 30th (Friday)
Pick up will be Dec. 10th (Monday) 4-6pm at Grandview Elementary School
Checks to be made out to: Clarenceville School District
Attached is the order form and the tracking form with revised pricing.
Student Council Friday's
Friday $1 days are a hit for Grandview. All of the collected money goes to families in need for the Holiday Season.

Participants must swipe their registered Kroger rewards card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Kroger rewards card when shopping for each purchase to count.
Bookflix for Grandview Families
The Michigan eLibrary did not renew their subscription to Bookflix. We found great value in this site for our children. Therefore, Grandview purchased a school subscription that allows teachers and students to use the following username and password to access Bookflix at home and at school. Please feel free to use this at home. The link is as follows.....
https://digital.scholastic.com/site/launch/bkflix?ucn=600063987
There is a link on the Library symbaloo and will be putting a link under the student links on the Clarenceville website.
Username: grandvw
Password: flix
If you click on the apple and book in the top right corner, it takes you to a Resources and Tools page where you can search for books, search by themes, running times and grade levels.
This is another way to engage your students with their learning at home.
Enjoy!!!
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Meetings are underway for both of these great organizations. Girl Scouts will be meeting on Wednesdays and Boy Scouts will be meeting on Mondays at 6:30. Come join the fun!
Transportation Changes
Do not rely on just the office for transportation changes. It is important that you also put it in writing in an email to the teacher. If you alert the teacher and the office, chances are better that the message is delivered accurately. We have so many transportation changes at the end of the day that makes us uneasy that a mistake could occur. Please do not make a change after 3:00!!
