No Deliveries
We value strong relationships and partnerships with our parents but for health and safety reasons, we ask that you keep campus visits to a minimum.
Please do not bring forgotten items such as homework or lunch to campus during the day. If a student forgets their lunch at home they may receive a free meal from the cafeteria.
Barricades in the Front Parking Lot During Morning Drop-Off
Please do not move the barricades in the morning to avoid waiting the car rider line during morning arrival. Remain in the car rider line to drop off students. We ask that you be courteous to our community in the front drive.
You have the option to drop off students in the morning in the front drive or the bus ramp. You may not pick up students during dismissal on the bus ramp.
Arrival
Students report to their designated area upon arrival. Please make every effort to have your child at school by 7:45 a.m. so they may settle in for the day.
Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.
There are no teachers on duty at that time.
Attendance
Attendance is taken at 10:00 a.m. each day. In accordance with the state law, a student is either present or absent for the entire day at the 10:00 a.m. attendance bell. Senate Bill 1 allows students to be counted present if they are with a health care professional at 10:00 a.m. and return to school later that day with a note from the doctor. When a student is absent he/she must bring a written excuse within 5 days of the absence. An absence will be unexcused if a note is not brought to school within these 5 days.
An email is a perfectly safe and acceptable way to submit an absence note: please email absence notes to attendanceAPE@fortbendisd.com. After 3 unexcused absences, students will receive a letter from the FBISD truancy officer. After 5 unexcused absences, parents will receive a citation from the truancy officer.
Dismissal
PM Car Riders: Students will sit in lines by their pick-up number. Car rider tags will be provided to students when they return to campus.
Day Care: Students will sit in the gym in their prospective daycare lines. Daycares will pick up students from the bus ramp.
Bus: Students will sit in the cafeteria in lines according to their bus number.
Red Walkers/Bikers: Students will exit the door on the 5th grade hall. Teachers will walk with them down the sidewalk to the stop sign while others stay at the bike racks.
Blue Walkers/Bikers: Students will exit through the cafeteria door. All students cross with the teachers. Parents of K-2 students meet them at that corner.
Purple Walkers/Bikers: Teachers will walk students across the hardtop to the property line at the back of the school and remain until all students are picked up by a parent.
***We will follow social distancing guidelines during dismissal.***
Snacks
Austin Parkway is a Peanut Free School to protect the sailors who have allergies. Students will have an opportunity to enjoy a snack break daily. Our older students typically snack and work.
Students are not allowed to share snacks. Please make sure that all snacks are healthy and not excessively wet or messy.
Clear water only is allowed. No colored drinks please.
If It Is Raining
We no longer offer Rainy Day Dismissal:
- Students will be dismissed their normal way (walker, biker, car rider).
- If there is lightning, we are required to keep students in the building until it stops.
- If it is raining badly, we will hold students in the building until it lightens up and they will be released.
- If it is lightly raining, students will follow our regular procedures.
- We encourage students to pack an umbrella in their backpack for rainy days.
If it is raining, do not gather in a large group at the exit doors.
Please allow for social distancing.
Dear Austin Parkway Elementary Parents and Guardians,
Fort Bend ISD is preparing to engage the community for the Attendance Boundary Planning of Sonal Bhuchar Elementary, scheduled to open in the fall of 2023. The school is located at 5503 Thompsons Ferry Road in Missouri City, and it will affect the attendance boundaries of our campus.
FBISD is committed to keeping parents well informed of the process. The District will hold a virtual public hearing on January 12 to present the preliminary report, and following the presentation, all stakeholders may share thoughts and feedback on Thoughtexchange, a discussion management software tool that allows for confidential feedback. Once all feedback has been received, District staff will consider the meaningful public comment and may revise the recommendation before a final proposal is made to the Board of Trustees.
The District has implemented a new 8-step boundary change process, aimed at making the process more transparent and streamlined. Visit www.fortbendisd.com/sbeattendanceboundary to learn more about the process and how you can share your thoughts.

Filmmaker’s Academy is a free event for students in grades third through 12th grade. This year the event will be held virtually. A promotional flyer is attached and will also be shared with Broadcast sponsors and posted in Schoology. Please send to your students.
Join PTA!
PTA meetings will be held during the school year. All parents are encouraged to become members of the PTA on our campus and attend meetings and events. The PTA typically provides monetary support such as programs, the winter and spring parties, technology, staff development for teachers, field trips, etc., as well as voluntary time and hours by providing people to assist with multiple school activities.
Please contact our PTA President, Mrs. Misty Cervenka at president@austinparkwaypta.org for information regarding any questions or to volunteer for the PTA.

Please send dismissal change requests to the attendance clerk at AttendanceAPE@fortbendisd.com before 2:00 p.m. There will be no exceptions. We will not release your child(ren) after 3:00 p.m. due to dismissal procedures.
