iReady Diagnostic 1 Notification from District Office

This week, the district office sent an email to all parents with information on how to access their child's iReady diagnostic #1 information in Aeries Parent Portal. When looking at this information, please remember this was the beginning of the year data, and we are currently working on Diagnostic #2. Upon conclusion of the Diagnostic #2 window after the New Year, the district office will upload the results and send them to parents again.

AHES PRIDE Awards Update

Our AHES teachers, Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), and AHES Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Committee have collaborated together to update our AHES PRIDE Awards to provide more regular opportunities for our Panther students to be celebrated as a school community throughout the school year.

Instead of waiting for the Trimester to end to celebrate our Panther students receiving Panther PRIDE awards, our school will recognize students monthly. Once a month each classroom teacher will identify a student who has showcased Panther PRIDE. As a school, we will recognize our Panther PRIDE Students of the Month. The principal will announce the students' names over the school-wide intercom or video message system, invite them up to the office to connect with the principal to receive their award certificate, pencil, and meal certificate from a local restaurant. In addition, the Panther PRIDE Students of the Month names will be showcased on our school marquee.

We are so excited to have the opportunity to increase the opportunity to recognize students throughout the entire school year. We will announce the first Panther Pride Students of the Month in December and then continue throughout the rest of the school year. To learn more about Panther PRIDE Awards, you can visit page 4 of our AHES handbook.

6th Grade Outdoor Ed Update

AHES has secured dates with ECOS Institute in the hopes that we will have an opportunity to attend Outdoor Ed this year with our 6th grade students.

Tentative Dates: 3/21/21-3/25/21

Tentative Cost: $419.90

At this time our Outdoor Ed field trip has not been approved and will only be approved if OUSD permits overnight field trips by then. Please hold onto the tentative dates and cost for now, and more information will be available as we get closer.

OUSD Open Enrollment 2022-2023

K-12 OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

OPEN FROM JANUARY 17-31, 2022

Open Enrollment is for students who would like to attend a school other than their home school, assigned based upon their area of residence. You may find your "home" school by looking up your address at SchoolLocator at http://apps.schoolsitelocator.com/?districtcode=57964.

Open Enrollment applications for K-12 grades will be available online between January 17-January 31, 2022. Please complete your online application during this time period. Schools will have computers available for your convenience. Fill out your application completely and submit one application per school that you would like to attend. You may submit an application to as many schools as you like, one application per school.

Open Enrollment closes on January 31, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. School sites will hold a lottery and notify families of their lottery number, beginning February 03, 2022. Once the number of openings in a school is determined, the school will start notifying families, starting with the first person on the list and offer them a spot in their school. Parents may accept or deny the offer. If denied the school will move on to the next person on the list and parents may not change their mind once they have denied.

If you wish to request Open Enrollment for the current school year, please contact Student and Community Services at 714-628-5424.

    • The test consists of 3, 30-minute batteries, which are usually completed over three days.
    • Students will test on devices. IT will be pushing out secure browsers.
    • All 3rd graders test unless the parent submits an opt-out or sends a written request (by hand or email- it is not too late).

AHES Parent Volunteer Updates

OUSD is now allowing a very limited number of parents onto campuses to support essential activities and learning experiences for our students. Parent volunteers must complete the HR paperwork and get cleared before coming onto campus.

Vaccinations are required to start the process and to be cleared as a volunteer to comply with CDPH guidance for volunteers.

For those parents interested in volunteering on campus please complete the proper form below:

Volunteer Forms Over 5 hours per week

Volunteer Forms Under 5 hours per week

Your child's teacher will reach out to parents when volunteer opportunities are available. We are currently allowed five parents on campus a day, so as we start this volunteer opportunities will be limited and we look forward OUSD expanding volunteer options as the school year progresses. Only cleared and pre-scheduled volunteers will be able to participate in volunteer opportunities.

Thank you!
