Principal’s Message

Mariner Families and Community,

We have come to the end of the 1st semester which marks the half-way point of the school year! We are thankful for the family support as students returned to in-person learning this year. We appreciate the flexibility that teachers have shown by providing lessons in-person while also providing work for students who were not able to attend school.

The 1st semester officially ends on January 27th, but final semester grades will not be posted until February 15th. Several teachers will continue to allow work to be turned in the next few weeks. Final grade reports will be sent home shortly after February 15th. Please keep in mind that teachers have the option to assign an I (incomplete) grade if a student has been adversely impacted by absences and they are close to a passing grade. In this case, the teacher will meet with the student and complete a contract which includes the work to be completed and a date deadline.

The 2nd semester begins on Monday, January 31st. We’ve adjusted our bell schedule to include 7-minute passing times (instead of 10), so students will have a few more minutes of instructional time each period. Students and families can now view next semester’s courses in Qmlativ. Many classes are year-long and they will remain the same, but semester-long classes will change beginning on Monday.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the school or your student’s teacher or counselor directly if you have any questions. The Mariner High School main office is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:00pm, so feel free to stop by for any reason. We are here to support our students and families in any way possible.

Go Marauders!

Stay Connected!

Information and news about Mariner High School are available in a variety of formats. This year, you will receive a phone message and email from the district if we close or delay school. This helps ensure we reach everyone, including those without an email address on file, before students stand outside at a bus stop, and before parents leave for work. If you added a text message number in the Blackboard portal https://mukilteoschooldistrict.bbcportal.com/ you would also receive a text message. As usual, school delays or closures will be posted on the district website and posted through FlashAlert, which also feeds into mainstream local news feeds.
