During the War
People were held here until they died on their own or were killed.
This is were they would cremate bodies to get rid of them.
After the War
This is how Ashwitz looked after the war.
- 1.1 million poisoners died, 90% Jewish
- Erly 1942 to late 1944 transport trains delivered Jews to the camp's gas chambers from all over German-occupied Europe
- First mass exterminations took place in early September 1941
- Many not killed in the gas chamber were killed of starvation, forced labor, infectious diseases, individual executions, and medical experiments
